Honourable Dr. George Chaponda, Malawi’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, is leading the delegation at the #AUSummit in Addis Ababa. He is representing H.E. President Arthur Peter Mutharika at the 39th Ordinary Session.
Hon. Chaponda also lauded H.E. Dr. William Ruto, Champion for AU Institutional Reforms, for his dedication. He outlined Malawi’s proposals to drive efficiency and effectiveness within the African Union. #AUReforms
He commended the AU for its role in consolidating democracy in Malawi through its Election Observation Mission during the 16 September 2025 Tripartite Elections
In his address, Hon. Dr. Chaponda reaffirmed Malawi’s commitment, in its capacity as Chair of the SADC Organ on Politics, Defence & Security, to ensuring lasting peace and stability in the SADC region. #SADC#PeaceAndSecurity

Dr. Diana Jere, Charge d'Affaires a.i. signed the book of condolence at the Embassy of the Republic of Zambia in Addis Ababa following the death of former President Dr Edgar Chagwa Lungu. She extended heartfelt sympathies to Zambia during this difficult time.
Top on the agenda are Elections to AU Bodies including the Peace and Security Council (PSC), African Union Commission on International Law (AUCIL) and African Space Council.
The Executive Council will also discuss reports on the recruitment of African Union Commissioners
Hon Patricia Nangozo Kainga, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, is leading Malawi’s delegation at the 24th Extraordinary Session of the AU Executive Council in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The session focuses on critical governance and strategic matters shaping the continent’s future.
The summit will among other issues endorse the Kampala CAADP Declaration, outlining a vision for transforming African agrifood systems from 2026-2035 & Approve the 10-Year CAADP Strategy & Action Plan, detailing how to achieve the Declaration's ambitious targets.
