⚡️ NEW UPDATE: Israeli Guards Beat Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya Again, Keep Him in Solitary Confinement and Deny Him Adequate Medical Care

“Do everything possible to get me out of this place,” Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya told lawyers during a July 14 visit at Israel’s underground Rakefet detention facility, according to Physicians for Human Rights Israel.

Abu Safiya said prison guards beat him again following his previous legal visit on July 2, leaving his hand bruised. He has remained alone in solitary confinement since that visit and is being denied adequate medical care despite his injured hand and a visible problem with his right eye.

He underwent an X-ray but was never told the results. His pain medication was later discontinued, while Israeli authorities have refused to provide PHRI with his medical records or allow an independent physician to examine him.

The legal visit itself offered no privacy. Abu Safiya was concealed from his lawyers behind an opaque partition and forced to communicate by telephone while masked prison guards remained close enough to hear the conversation.

The director of Kamal Adwan Hospital has been imprisoned without charge or trial since December 2024 after refusing to abandon his patients. PHRI demanded his immediate release, an end to his solitary confinement, his transfer out of the underground facility, and independent medical and legal examinations.

Since October 2023, settler violence and military raids have forcibly displaced at least 4,635 Palestinians in the West Bank. So far, 62 Palestinian communities have been entirely forcibly displaced, with another 15 communities partially displaced.

💢 REPORT: A new Drop Site News investigation reveals that a little-known nonprofit launched with Israeli government support is building a nationwide network of state lawmakers to share pro-Israel model legislation.

Documents obtained under Florida’s Sunshine Law show the State Legislator Israel Caucus (SLIC) aims to serve as a repository for bills on issues including “Judea and Samaria” and other Israel-related policies. The group’s founder says about 75 lawmakers from 35 states have joined and acknowledged that Israel funded its launch event in Washington.

The investigation also examines the organization’s ties to Israeli officials, meetings with Sen. John Fetterman and Trump administration official Leo Terrell, and broader questions about foreign influence and transparency under U.S. law.

⭕️ Israeli settlers attacked a CNN news crew, including correspondent Jeremy Diamond, in the occupied West Bank village of Sinjil on Saturday where the journalists were reporting on the first anniversary of the killing of Saif Musallet, a Palestinian-American beaten to death by settlers in July 2025.

Minutes after the crew arrived north of Ramallah, settlers descended on the area and blocked the road with a vehicle as the journalists tried to leave. Armed with wooden and metal rods, stones, and a knife, they smashed the windshield of a trailing press vehicle (see video in reply) and tried to slash the tires of CNN’s car.

Israeli police and military forces later dispersed the attackers and escorted the journalists out. CNN reported that four settlers were arrested and that clubs and a knife were recovered from their vehicle.

The attack was separate from the detention of Rep. Ro Khanna this weekend by Israeli forces in the West Bank.

🚨 NEW: Israel has responded to a High Court petition over the detention of Gaza physician Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, saying he has been examined several times since being transferred to the underground Rakefet detention facility.

Physicians for Human Rights Israel (PHRI) said the state failed to explain why the examinations were necessary, what they found, or respond to allegations from his lawyer that he suffered severe injuries and repeated loss of consciousness.

PHRI said the response raises new questions about Abu Safiya’s condition.

Israel also asked the court to dismiss, without a hearing, PHRI’s petition seeking the release of 14 Gaza doctors, including Dr. Abu Safiya, held without charge. PHRI said the response fails to address their continued detention.
