Whale 🐳 alert 🚨

Someone swept twenty-two 999 club .sats this morning 🧹🧹🧹

#Sats #Domains #999club #Bitcoin

[stack.sats @stackdotsats]

State of Play:

🌓 There are currently 65,878 unique Bitcoin wallets holding .sats

🌒 This is *by far* the largest distribution of any ordinals project

🌘 Several builders are working behind the scenes on products that use .sats and SNS names

🌗 Three digit “999 club” and two letter .sats have proven they have demand on secondary markets

🌖 IMO the appetite for OG layer 1 domains like .sats will only increase as we inch closer to a bull market

🌕 This is why I remain bullish on .sats

What if you could just send BTC to a name, instead of a Bitcoin address? 🟧

Quick dive:
• SNS protocol
• Statistics
• Use cases

4.000 namespaces, with a total of more than 1.2M names!

⚡ SNS protocol

Sat Name Standard is a standard for creating human-readable Web3 usernames

SNS goal is to build a name ecosystem for Bitcoin, entirely on top of #Bitcoin

The Sats Names standard is completely neutral, meaning it neither has gatekeepers nor uses smart contracts

They launched the .sats extension on 22 February '23

Various communities have created additional namespaces such as .ord, .btc, .xbt and .gm

The .sats namespace uses the first-is-first rule, meaning that the first person to register a particular name owns it

⚡Some statistics
There are almost 4.000 namespaces, with a total of more than 1.2M names!

There are 90k unique address holders, with an average of 13 names per wallet

Four namespaces make up 50% of the overall names around:

• sats
• btc
• x
• unisat

⚡ Use cases
Sooner or later, SNS use cases will grow exponentially

Just a few exaples in my mind about name’s utility:

• Wallet address replacement (sort of DNS service)
• Twitter username
• Collectible
• Facilitate blockchain explorer

SNS protocol is still early, but it's certainly not going away

If you want a cool wallet name, waste no time and grab it ASAP 🤝

How many names do you HODL?
Flex me your best one! 🟧

[Aeri.sats 🐝 @AeriSats]

let this note for you guys!

[stack.sats @stackdotsats]

Noticed some .sats sales today of names with hidden characters (zero width joiners is the technical name) ❌

If you’re looking for a grail and the price seems too good to be true, make sure you search the name first on Unisat or bestinslot to make sure the valid first inscription number matches the one you’re considering buying. If it doesn’t, that “grail” likely contains hidden or misleading characters which have not been flagged by the marketplace it’s listed on ⚠️

Ape safely fam 🫡

look how .sats fam ready to take it all, I'd say we're getting there fam!

[stack.sats @stackdotsats]

If everything goes well for .sats how quickly could it go mainstream?

[stack.sats @stackdotsats]

I’m bullish on .sats. That doesn’t mean I don’t like or appreciate other Web3 TLDs like .btc .bitcoin .ord .eth, etc.

I just think there is something unique about #Bitcoin having its first widely adopted TLD that natively exists directly on the Bitcoin blockchain. Eight months ago it was far from inevitable this would ever happen. It’s been tried before but never widely adopted. .sats is unique this way. .sats captured the imagination of a whole cohort of Bitcoiners (the ordinals community) and the energy behind the .sats movement and adoption has been like watching lightning bounce around in a bottle. For this reason .sats has one of the most unique origins and trajectories I’ve ever seen.

No matter what namespace you get behind, it’s all good. Web3 is big enough for everyone to express themselves the way they want. For me that’s .sats.

XO

[stack.sats @stackdotsats]

This is wild 🤯

Eight months ago .sats on ordinals didn’t exist and today it is a top two contender for the dominant namespace on #Bitcoin
