It would be great to have religious folks who wrestle with & write thoughtfully about literature, movies, African philosophy & spirituality, politics, community development, socio-cultural trends etc., without the focus on evangelism, conversion &preaching.
I feel ya. This is one of my favorite and funniest essays in that book. I deeply connected with that story of his life in church. (This also kinda reminds me of Richard Wright's experiences in church as a kid).
The Big Sea is among my top 10 best autobiographies of all time.

Very understandable. I remember how tired of life I was & how badly I wanted to enter the abyss of nonexistence right before I turned 29 a while ago. Not so fun times. I recently climbed up another step in the 30s ladder. We keep moving I guess.
