It’s hard for people to see the light when the truth threatens the story they’ve spent years believing.

That is cognitive dissonance. The CIA doesn’t walk around with “CIA” pasted on its forehead. Intelligence agencies are called “cloak and dagger” operations for a reason:

secrecy, deniability, covert networks and operations designed to remain hidden.

Yet some Nigerians educated Nigerians included seem to think that if there is no flashing sign saying “INTELLIGENCE OPERATION,” then nothing is happening. Education without critical thinking is just credentialed gullibility.
