Adetunji “Teejay” Opayele the co-founder of Bumpa, was klled by a Lagos rich kid, Biola Adams driving on one way.

Apparently, on March 4th, Teejay, was biking his way home from the gym at VI. When a car came out of no where and smashed him into unconsciousness.

Turns out, he was in his right of way, but the car was driven by a Lagos rich kid, Biola Adams-Odutayo, who works for one of the biggest health insurance firms in Nigeria.

Tragically, when she hit him. She tried to flee the scene. But people gathered ensuring she couldn’t.

With Teejay lying in critical condition, drenched in his own blood. Biola refused to step out of the car to assess the damage. Or even render any help.

She sat in the car, pressing her phone and making calls. When her friends finally responded to the crowd asking her to take him to the hospital, they said;

“Biola cannot take him, because she doesn’t want blood stains in her car”.

The good people around, tried to help. As no car was willing to stop. They got an uber, took him to nearby clinics, he was rejected. Meanwhile, Biola Adams already contacted a tow truck to tow her car.

Note: she was moving in a convoy of two cars, he driver drove one behind, while she led.

So, as TJ was rejected. They had to return to the accident scene, use a Korope, and forced Biola to enter the bus, so that the hospitals will admit him. — this was after nearly 1hr.

What they finally got to a hospital, Teejay was declared dead.

Again, Biola tried to flee. They later got her arrested. But as they did, she kept boasting that nothing will happen to her because her family has connections. — And she was right.

After the arrest. She was released almost immediately. And then charged for “Traffic Violations”. Instead of Manslaughter. The police totally swept away the accident.

They took her to court for “traffic offense” and that same day the court granted her bail of 1M, she paid that same day, and has returned back to her life.

Now, the family of Teejay, doubt she’s still in the country. They want proper Justice done. And have called on all Nigerians to lend a voice. Because a bright talent has been wasted.

Teejay secured $4M international funding for Bumpa, he initially founded HostCabal, and worked in premium companies both in US and Nigeria.

Friends and family are demanding for justice for Teejay.

I feel nothing but sympathy for some of those who kept silent while the gender wars raged around them. I’ve had literally thousands of emails on this subject and some of the most desperate have been from people who risk their livelihoods and face persecution and harassment if they speak up.

That said, I have zero sympathy for academics who did nothing to prevent illiberal and authoritarian activism stifling debate, freedom of speech and academic enquiry at their place of work. Defending those values is fundamental to academic life and you didn’t just fall short, you disgraced yourselves. Your inaction and cowardice enabled a campaign of persecution against one of your own that shamed @SussexUni.

There are times in life where we are confronted by clear moral choices, when there is no middle route. Either you stand up for freedom of speech and belief - yes, even up to the point of causing offence - or you bow down to a totalitarian culture that relies on intimidation and threats to sustain itself.

It’s deeply depressing to think that a university requires a punitive fine to make it wake up to the fact that it’s abandoned basic liberal values, but the OfS has at last drawn a much needed line in the sand. I wouldn’t bet against more monster fines to come, though. The University of Sussex is far from the only institute of learning where a culture of fear has been allowed to flourish.

Eight Catholic schools were shut down in Katsina for Ramadan and this has affected the learning of over 2,500 Christian students.

Bishop Gerald Musa noted this as he raised concern of this violation of the rights of Christians pupils to education in the state.

But this is not the most concerning issue. Islamists and Muslim militants in the Northern region are killing Christians.

Earlier this week at the House Foreign Committee on Africa, a congressional hearing was held about the persecution of Christians by Islamists in Nigeria.

They are killing, kidnapping, raping, stealing lands and renaming villages over there, Bishop Wilfred Anagbe noted.

The agenda is to exterminate the Christian population and make the nation and Islamic one.

Bishop Wilfred Anagbe, a Makurdi Claretian missionary, noted this at the hearing,

“The experience of the Nigerian Christians today can be summed up as that of a Church under Islamist extermination.

It is frightening to live there.”

He also continued,

“Apart from the violent campaigns and attacks against Christian villages, there are now attempts by the Islamic Council of Nigeria and various Islamic groups to impose sharia [Islamic] law on the Christian populations.”

This is the reality of Christians in Nigeria.

In the last decade, 145 Catholic Bishops have been kidnapped, 11 killed and four still missing.

Nigeria is the most dangerous place to live as a Christian.

Around 90% of all persecuted Christians are Nigerians.

Yesterday, a known Fulani Christian who preaches in the North had to run for his life because they wanted to assassinate him.

Why are we saying this? First, to let you know that Christians in Nigeria are persecuted. You are in potential danger for your faith.

Secondly, to alert our Southern church leaders to take action.

They are not doing anything visibly on public record in recent times about this spate of bloodshed.

CAN released a statement for Godswill Akpabio during the sexual harassment saga but we don’t think they released one for the priest killed on Ash Wednesday.

We might be wrong, but we didn’t see one.

Lastly, the only defense our Northern brethren have is the church.

The government gives the Muslim militants impunity, according to Bishop Wilfred.

He said when they call the police and the army, they don’t respond.

Let the church in the south stand up for the church in north.

Let’s not be at ease. The same Hamaan determined to kill the Israelites in the country will kill the ones in the Citadel.

Let Esther not think she’s untouchable.

I was in the mosque when a northern Governor died in a helicopter crash in 2012. Instead of silence, there was celebration. Grown men in a house of worship raised their hands in gratitude, saying *Alhamdulillah* because a kafir (non-Muslim) had died. His only crime? Being a Christian.

What kind of heart rejoices over death? The Prophet stood for a Jewish funeral, yet here we are, praising God for someone’s tragedy. If your Islam makes you hate, if it strips you of mercy, then what exactly are you worshipping? God or your own arrogance?
