You’ll notice that I don’t post about ‘PTSD’ or ‘Complex PTSD’ - despite the fact that I specialise in trauma.
This is because I do not agree that trauma responses are a disorder - which is what the psychiatric label of ‘PTSD’ frames it as. There is nothing disordered about natural trauma responses - no matter how hard they are to deal with.
By framing our body and mind as ‘disordered’ we are pathologising ourselves rather than honouring our trauma and our experiences.
