When a street dog is sleeping beside a small girl at a railway station, she is far less likely to be physically harmed. Dogs also protect poor communities and RWAs. As a woman, I feel more comfortable walking in Delhi with dogs around—they are alert and will bark when something is wrong.

I met two dogs at the gate of a temple — guarding worshippers from rapists, thieves, and evil.
