Had such a great time + learned a lot during this Data Viz course. Incredibly well taught at an amazing venue, the Wellcome Genome Campus, where 1/3 of the human genome was sequenced for the first time!
Thank you to all the organisers and participants for joining us at @emblebi for this week's data visualisation for biology course.

#ICAR2024 Dawn Nagel from UC Riverside is introducing the concurrent session on plant circadian rhythms with an overview of the biological clock and an announcement about the "first ever" plant chronobiology conference, June 2025 (adjacent to ICAR2025 in Belgium).

Great talk by former @LabUhrig PDF @drdevangm at #ICAR2024 in San Diego about our recent work published in @ScienceAdvances examining the effects of twilight on the growth and development of Arabidopsis thaliana.

In conventional #plantsci research, plants are often grown in controlled conditions where the lights are just switched on-off at the start and end of day. This is not how day-night transitions work in nature! Do plants care? Turns out, they really do!
🌅Delighted to share a paper that spanned the start of not one but TWO labs, now out in @ScienceAdvances. With @LabUhrig we discovered that plants sense the duration of TWILIGHT via their clock genes LHY/CCA1!
A 🧵on what this really means:

My new lab at @biosystkuleuven is working on exactly this. Right now, @FWOVlaanderen PhD fellow @AishaGerhardt, is simulating twilight & seasonal photoperiod and engineering new ⏰ genes to create plants adapted to new latitudes! (Find us at #ICAR2024SanDiego to hear more!)
Come join our young lab in Leuven🇧🇪 for some cool research on the plant circadian clock🌱⏰ + exciting proteomics work!! #plantscijobs#fundedphd#KULeuven
💡We're hiring!
A 4-year funded PhD position on developing & using interaction proteomics tools to study transcriptional regulation in the plant circadian clock!

🥳Massive massive congratulations to @AishaGerhardt for winning a coveted @FWOVlaanderen PhD Fellowship for her project on discovering the role of the circadian clock in latitudinal adaptation in plants! Hugely deserved, proficiat!
Our research and advocacy for enabling the use of #NGTs#CRISPR in EU agriculture was profiled on @ORF yesterday. (🇩🇪 audio)
Many thanks for the opportunity (and for giving us the last word🙂)

Had a blast at the 5th PhD Symposium on Molecular Plant Physiology & presenting the first poster about my project at
@theMehtaLab ! Thanks to everyone who voted for me and found my project as exciting as I do!! 🌱🕑

Happy to present the first part of my postdoc with @stanfordstomata: the stomatal lineage uses oppositely oriented polarity domains to regulate cell division and fate. In collaboration with @DolanLab (including some exciting Marchantia data). https://t.co/VO0NYsZnDG
Heute erstes Mal D-Ticket gekauft.
Mal verkauft.
In this week’s @nature WorldView column, I write:
“The EU can and should play a greater part in ensuring global food security. I urge both ministers and legislators to…resist calls to further limit this technology.” #NGT#CRISPR
