Strengthening self-care is critical for improving access to health services, empowering individuals, easing the burden on health facilities, and building a resilient health system.
CEHURD, in collaboration with the @MinofHealthUG, has convened a strategic meeting today, bringing together key stakeholders and implementing partners to accelerate efforts in advancing the self-care agenda in Uganda. Building on previous engagements, this meeting provides a platform to reflect on progress made, share achievements and innovations, and deepen coordination for stronger self-care integration across health programs and systems.

The session will focus on the urgent need for inclusive, rights-based sexuality education to address teenage pregnancy, child marriage, and gender-based violence in Uganda.
Why this discussion matters:
▪️Menstrual health challenges force 23% of girls aged 12-18 out of school.
▪️25% of Ugandan girls aged 15-19 are pregnant or have given birth.
▪️Nearly 40% of girls marry before turning 18.
This event will highlight successes, challenges, and policy recommendations to empower adolescent girls and young women in Uganda.
