HRSA group members carried out their first UAV survey near Schirmacher Oasis, #Antarctica as part of #44ISEA.
Team includes PhD scholars: Ajay Godara, Sanjay Saifi and Tirthankar Ghosh.
The surveys will help us in understanding #icesheet melting patterns with high-res datasets
In collaboration with IIT Bombay, NCPOR has successfully conducted a bathymetry survey of two key glacial lakes, Chandran Lake and Samudra Tapu Lake, in the Chandra Basin. This survey aims to estimate the water volume stored in these lakes and provide essential data for local correction and validation of hydro-glacial models. Given the scarcity of bathymetric data in glacial lakes, estimating the water volume stored in the glacial lakes is a significant challenge. These data are also crucial for calibrating models and simulating various scenarios for risk assessment and future projections.

An experience to remember
On July 6th, our team reached the basecamp near Patsio, HP, for glacier fieldwork. After 2days of acclimatization, we were supposed to trek up to the glacier at around 4900m. But there was a massive turnover of weather events all over Northern India

It was around 1 o'clock in the night, and we felt that the tent poles were broken because of the weight of snow over the tent outer layer. We tried to clear off and shed off as much as we could. This is a video of that situation
