💢 University of Tehran professor Hassan Ahmadian told Al Jazeera Arabic that the reported U.S.-Iran agreement would create a new regional security framework with Washington acting as the guarantor of Israeli compliance on Lebanon.

🔹According to Ahmadian, one of the key provisions of the draft agreement is the “unity of the fronts,” meaning Israel would be barred from attacking the Lebanese resistance.

🔹“The United States guarantees that Israel will not move against the resistance,” he said, describing it as the first time Washington would serve as the guarantor of such an arrangement.

🔹Ahmadian suggested the latest Israeli strike on Beirut was aimed at disrupting that emerging framework and signaling that Israel intends to preserve its operational freedom.

🔹Ahmadian added that, unlike the 2015 nuclear deal, the proposed agreement is structured as a single package of commitments, allowing Iran to halt the entire arrangement if any clause is violated.

🔴 Gaza update: At least 9 Palestinians, including a child have been killed in continuing Israeli attacks across Gaza on Sunday, according to Shehab News.

The different incidents include:

🔹 6 Palestinians were killed and several others wounded in an Israeli airstrike on a warehouse near Al-Yemen Al-Saeed Hospital in the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza.

The deceased were identified as Shadi Hasni Abu Salem, Shadi Khamis Al-Zein, Hani Sweilem, and Muhammad Main Sweilem, while two others remain unidentified at Al-Shifa Hospital, according to local media.

🔹Shehab News reported Zaki Mohammed Al-Qara, 30, was killed by Israeli gunfire near the Bani Suheila roundabout east of Khan Younis, while Mohammed Ramzi Abu Hussira, 39, died from wounds sustained in an Israeli helicopter strike in central Gaza City a day earlier.

🔹Nasser Medical Complex also reported 15-year old child Amir Al-Bashiti killed, and another person wounded by Israeli gunfire east of Khan Younis.

🔹Israeli airstrikes targeted tents sheltering displaced people and the Al-Nusseir area in western Khan Younis, causing additional casualties, while the Israeli military carried out large-scale building demolitions around Tel al-Zaatar in northern Gaza.

The IDF gave weapons and unchecked authority to violent settlers, including those under international sanctions, by drafting them into "regional defence units." Here's one of many examples uncovered by the investigative journalism program "Zman Emet" on Kan 11.

After October 2023, thousands of settlers enlisted in these units. Formally, they are subordinate to the IDF, but in practice operate as independent settler militias.

US building large military base near Gaza

Israel Hayom reported that the US military has begun constructing a large base near the perimeter fence surrounding the Gaza Strip, close to the Re’im military base in the Gaza Envelope.

The facility is intended to serve as a combined military and civilian headquarters for international organizations and personnel operating in the area.

According to the report, the base may support implementation of what it described as the “Trump plan” and is expected to replace a multinational headquarters previously located in Kiryat Gat.

Last Thursday, as a former @UNRWA employee myself, I received an email from UNRWA's Commissioner-General ad interim, Christian Saunders @CFSaundersUN, informing staff that he had decided to terminate the employment of 70 UNRWA employees in Gaza with immediate effect. He stressed that the decision was neither a disciplinary measure nor a validation of the allegations made by Israel, noting that UNRWA had repeatedly requested evidence from the Israeli authorities and had received none. Instead, he said the dismissals were intended to mitigate what the Agency considered growing security risks to its staff, beneficiaries, premises, and operations.

There is something deeply unjust about dismissing 70 people while admitting that no evidence was ever provided against them. Allegations are not proof. When accusations alone are enough to end careers and devastate families, due process ceases to be a principle and becomes a privilege.

PS: @UNRWA terminated my contract, along with those of 621 of my colleagues, simply because we escaped the genocide in Gaza and didn't want our children to be killed in front of our eyes. Many of my colleagues were injured and left on medical evacuations. Others accompanied family members who were seriously wounded. We were all terminated in January 2026 after spending an entire year on forced exceptional leave, despite the fact that many of us continued working online throughout that period.

The funny thing is that "Western" UNRWA employees were not terminated, even though many of them are also outside Gaza. They continue to receive salaries that are at least 15 times higher than ours, not to mention the benefits that come with them. An agency established to care for Palestinian refugees ended up firing Palestinian refugees like myself while retaining and generously paying international staff.
