Dear @narendramodi@DrSJaishankar@AmitShah@PiyushGoyal, we are trying to import murtis (idols) for our temples in Toronto from award-winning sthapathis in TN, such as Balaji and Lingam. Courier companies say we need a non-antique certificate, for which @ASIGoI Chennai wants bribes and thousands of documents. Couriers say central government customs harasses them and they do not want the headache. Why so much difficulty for religious articles, especially for temples like Sringeri with thousands of years of history in India? This ongoing issue forces us to use shipping lines to avoid air transport problems. Protecting historical artifacts is essential, but temples and artisans should not be harassed into oblivion. India needs a streamlined process to ease this and promote Indian arts, artisans, and religious work abroad. @RSSorg@rssurjewala

A 1-0 victory over World No. 4 China in the final seals a historic gold medal for the Indian Women’s Team, securing their second Asian Games title and their first since 1982! ❤️ Lalremsiami's 10th minute goal proves to be the winner!
The triumph also secures India a direct qualification to the LA 2028 Olympics. 🇮🇳🏑

Yet, when an Indian hero like Smit Machchhar saves lives, the same ecosystem has nothing to say.
For this ecosystem, anarchy gets applause. A real Indian hero gets silence.
Indian snacks in Canada are... different.
In a good way.
Canada is enforcing a new policy where packaged foods high in saturated fats, sugars, and sodium need unavoidable front-of-package labels disclosing their composition.
Similar to cigarettes.
When I returned to India I couldn't help but miss these labels. During my month in Canada, these labels were the difference between me impulsively picking an unhealthy snack up off the shelf and leaving it there. The label is essentially the government saying, "This food is bad for you. It is linked to chronic diseases. Eat it at your own risk." Given the abundance of healthier options that didn't have these labels (because they weren't high in sat fat, sugars, or sodium), I'd often take a step or two down the aisle and purchase a similar but healthier product in the same category. Easy.
I wish FSSAI would implement something similar in India, so that Indian consumers can make healthier and more informed decisions without having to parse complex back-of-package nutrition labels.
An attempted terrorist attack on the citizens of a democratic ally was luckily thwarted, and Canada’s Foreign Minister cannot even bring herself to say ‘terrorist attack’.
She calls it an ‘incident’ instead.
Gutless and devoid of all humanity.
Shame on you, Ms. Anand. Shame.
Captain Smit Machchhar is a HERO.
In the face of the gravest danger and despite being seriously injured, he showed immense courage and an unwavering resolve to protect the lives of others.
His valour helped save hundreds of lives and avert a great tragedy.
India is proud of Captain Machchhar.
Praying for his speedy recovery, renewed strength and good health.

I don’t think I’ve ever teared up on live TV—I think I did speaking to Vithya Ramraj, daughter of a truck driver, who brings back 3 medals from the Asian Games. 🇮🇳♥️ https://t.co/gbFvrebHMj
My salute to the Indian pilot Captain Smit Machchhar for his extraordinary bravery.
Despite being stabbed and seriously injured, he fought back, resisted, opened the cockpit door, and enabled passengers and crew to overpower the attacker — preventing a catastrophic mid-air disaster.
He saved the lives of 174 people, including Israeli citizens and other nationals.
I wish Captain Machchhar a speedy and full recovery.
He is a true hero.
