In 1931, as Gandhi travelled to London for the Round Table Conference, not everyone in Britain welcomed him with respect. Winston Churchill famously mocked him, calling him a “half-naked fakir” who dared to walk into the corridors of imperial power as an equal.
But Gandhi had already made his choice years earlier. He had given up stitched suits and Western attire, choosing instead a simple loincloth and shawl—cloth he spun himself. It wasn’t a fashion statement. It was a message. He dressed like the poorest Indian because he represented them.
That same year, he was invited to Buckingham Palace for tea with King George V and Queen Mary.
Gandhi arrived exactly as he always did—wearing his handmade sandals, a loosely draped shawl, and his loincloth. No attempt to impress. No attempt to conform.
After the meeting, as he stepped out of the palace, a reporter asked him cheekily, “Do you think you were dressed appropriately to meet the King?”
Gandhi smiled and replied with calm wit:
“The King had enough clothes on for both of us.”
The remark travelled across the world faster than any speech. The next morning, newspapers carried the image of a simply dressed Indian man walking out of the most powerful palace in the world—without changing who he was.
Because Gandhi didn’t need royal clothes to carry royal dignity.
He walked into Buckingham Palace dressed like the poorest man in India…
and walked out as the richest man in character.

When Mahatma Gandhi was tragically assassinated on 30th January 1948, just five months after India’s hard-won independence, the nation was thrown into an overwhelming sea of grief.
The next day, 31st January 1948, Gandhi’s mortal remains were consigned to flames on the banks of the Yamuna river in Delhi, in the presence of a massive crowd, as the nation mourned its greatest leader.
But as his body was reduced to ashes, the world was reminded of his immortal legacy. To allow every citizen to participate in this sacred moment of mourning, Gandhi’s family, along with the Government of India, decided to immerse portions of his ashes in sacred rivers across the country.
On 3rd February, his son, Devdas Gandhi, made the public announcement that his father’s ashes would be immersed in holy rivers, starting with the Triveni Sangam in Allahabad (now Prayagraj).
Fifty urns containing portions of Gandhi’s ashes were sent to cities across India, enabling people from every corner of the nation to join in the final tribute.
Upon reaching Allahabad, an estimated 30 lakh people gathered for the final immersion ceremony at the Triveni Sangam, where the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati converge.
As the ashes were immersed in the holy waters at exactly 1:55 p.m., the crowd chanted religious chants and rose petals were showered from the skies.
In an extraordinary tribute, milkmen from Allahabad poured milk into the river, turning the water into a “river of milk,” symbolising purity, reverence, and unity.
For hours, the crowds on both sides of the river waited patiently in silence, their hearts united in tribute. The air was thick with emotion, as Gandhi’s teachings of truth, non-violence, and unity echoed through the centuries.

He is Nathuram Godse, India’s first terrorist.
He never threw a stone at the British.
He never went to jail for India’s freedom.
He never participated in any anti-British movements.
He never challenged power or sacrificed for India’s freedom
But he assassinated a 78 yr old Mahatma Gandhi.
He fired 3 bullets at an unarmed man whose only weapon was truth and non violence.
Nathuram Godse stands as India’s first terrorist and the definition of cowardice.
"He died as the victim of his own principles, the principle of non-violence. He died because in time of disorder and general irritation in his country, he refused armed protection for himself.
It was his unshakable belief that the use of force is an evil in itself, that therefore it must be avoided by those who are striving for supreme justice to his belief. With his belief in his heart and mind, he has led a great nation on to its liberation. He has demonstrated that a powerful human following can be assembled not only through the cunning game of the usual political manoeuvres and trickery but through the cogent example of a morally superior conduct of life.
The admiration for Mahatma Gandhi in all countries of the world rests on that recognition."

@Broufus@Psdexpert01 Muslims have increased from 9.8% of population in 1951 to 14.2% population in 2011. By your very logic Muslims are thriving in India.

Humble tributes to the legendary freedom fighter and champion of indigenous rights, 'Dharti Aaba' Birsa Munda Ji on his Punya Tithi today. Spearheading the tribal movement against colonial oppression, he inspired many to devote themselves towards the cause of freedom of our motherland. #BirsaMunda
