LAYOFF ALERT: VOLKSWAGEN 🚨
19,000 GERMAN JOBS GONE THIS YEAR. 19,000!
We previously reported on 50,000 jobs to be cut by 2030.
Now, we shockingly learn that nearly 40% of those are coming this year.
@K__Med Putting the console war stuff aside, I think e-day looks better; wolverine looks weird and overall underwhelming graphically. Im sure it will sell a lot, wolverine being one of the biggest ips in entertainment.
This is not coming. IT'S ALREADY HERE.
Apple and the Metropolitan Police have been running this quietly for months. IMEI numbers of stolen phones shared directly with Apple. Apple bricks them remotely. no reactivation without your password. ever.
the results in London are real:
reactivations of stolen iPhones dropped from 80% to under 20%. Westminster saw a 45.8% drop in phone theft. 14,000 fewer stolen phones in a single year.
It works. Nobody is arguing that.
The announcement is just Apple making it the global default. everywhere. for everyone.
now the question nobody is asking:
Apple just confirmed that a system already exists where law enforcement hands them a list of devices and Apple disables them globally. the infrastructure is live. it's proven. it scales.
today the list is stolen phones.
This is the same Apple that will probably scan UK devices on government request. the same Apple that caved to the Online Safety Act. the same Apple that is being pressured by the same government to break Signal-level encryption.
they now have a remote off button for every iPhone on earth. and we know it works because they already used it.
the kill switch is real.
the first use case is always good.
@Senninsage While its true that phil and sarah did some good work, the evidence that the multiplat strategy was slowly killing xbox its already been shown. We should just let the new team work and see if they can fix the issues that xbox have thx to satya, who imo is the real problem.
@ballmatthew@charlieINTEL This is something that you and team xbox are gonna be facing a lot; gaming media loves to take anything anyone at xbox says and take it out of context to try and make it look as a negative.
This is a prime example of why @asha_shar and @ballmatthew just need to stop doing interviews. Everything they say is being weaponised and at times taken out of context to be weaponised. Its crazy.
This is not correct:
• In the interview, I am asked about a comment I made before being hired at XBOX, then state that I was only 10 days into the role, and that I am not stating the company's plans or beliefs
• What I do say is that ads should be used to offer more affordable alternatives alongside today's ad-free experiences, in the hopes more could play as a result. Similar to how Netflix and Disney+ have ad-tiers with all the same content, but at half the price or so
• At no point do I even mention in-game ads
(I personally believe interrupting the gameplay experience would be bad)
Xbox is floating the idea of in-game ads, noting that may have potential to "keep our products affordable".
Goal is to ensure they can 'continue to fund outstanding work' from dev teams

Tortellini was very interested in the video (from three years ago) of Tater chasing dust motes... but she was more interested in a toy than Tater! Also, off to the side Pierogi and Wonton are havin' a tussle. (I'll re-post the original Tater-and-dust-motes video in a few hours.)
During Reach's early development, I made the original proposal to have George sacrifice himself in orbit and then have the covenant fleet show up, giving the unspoken implication that "You sacrificed your best guy and barely made dent. You can't win this war".
But my original pitch was "You leave Jorge in the Covenant bridge, he locks the door and is defending this room to ensure the ship stays on course, and the player runs back to the hangar and jumps" (all in game), we'd then transition to a first person cinematic while the player was falling.
The story team pushed back with a counter-proposal insisting Jorge get this monologue. I didn't agree at first so we debate/argued/etc. That happened a lot. In the end, it was the right choice (I was wrong), and it made the moment so much better.
That was the cool thing about old school Bungie. All the best moments were an amalgamation of proposals and counter-proposals, to ultimately arrive at the best version of the idea.
