Excited to be heading into the office this am! Top of the to-do list: calling a vote on restoring the Click to Cancel Rule. It’s time the FTC gets back to protecting consumers from real abuses like subscription traps that cost Americans countless hours and millions of dollars.
For all Trump's talk of manufacturing jobs, you didn't see the CEOs of GE and Caterpillar sitting in the prime seats today. You saw the CEOs of Amazon and X and Meta and Google and TikTok.
It's the attentional oligarchs whose power he cares about.
I am proud of @FTC’s work championing the public interest and fighting corporate cheats.
It’s been a week, so you might have missed how busy we’ve been 🧵
trump has vowed to go after political enemies, undocumented immigrants, and others if he wins.
experts have warned that he could easily turn the surveillance state against his targets. now, he’s won…

This has been a remarkably smooth election day with only minor hiccups so far (and some despicable bomb threats coming from Russia).
It takes tens of thousands of people to pull this off. Especially given threats and intimidation of election workers.
I thank them all.
Just voted. Shoutout to poll workers at Mountain Shadows Community Center. They were great. All poll workers everywhere deserve our thanks, especially these days.
Today, hundreds of thousands of election workers and millions of volunteers will be working a very long day to ensure that every American citizen has a voice in who governs them. Join me in thanking them for their service. No election is perfect, but they do a great job ensuring our elections are secure, your vote will be safe and convenient, and your vote will matter. Even if it's close, we will know who accurately won, thanks to our election workers!
Plus Harris will support enacting online privacy regulations that Trump would oppose. Today’s unregulated data environment is what helps fill coffers of Bezos, Musk, Zuckerberg, Google, Kroger & also enables the commercial surveillance based misinformation state.
Today, @CFPB finalized a rule that will make it easier to switch to a new provider when it comes to your loan or bank account, while also safeguarding against intrusive financial spying and surveillance.

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) has announced a new rule, the Personal Financial Data Rights Rule, which will give consumers more control over their financial data, shielding it from third-party use. https://t.co/IQbZENNqMp
I generally won't analyze specific reports I disagree with (or will use a vague "some people have said/suggested/etc." to start out), but there's a report on AI disclaimers in election ads that has been cited by major news sources a few times that we REALLY need to talk about.
Let me make this clear, since billionaires have been trying to play footsie with the ticket:
Anyone goes near Lina Khan and there will be an out and out brawl. And that is a promise.
She proves this admin fights for working people. It would be terrible leadership to remove her.
