We've confirmed an additional 5 tornado tracks today, which now brings us to a total of 19 tornadoes from last Wednesday's historic outbreak ahead of Hurricane Milton. This is officially the largest tornado outbreak in the office's 35 year history (based on number only).

@tropicalupdate We brought out daughter back to USF. Took Knights Griffin Road through Thontosassa between 301 and 39. The devastation back there is immense. The oak lined road has to be cleared in dozens of spots. Flooding is still bad.

Port St. Lucie Utility Systems Department is issuing a precautionary boil water notice for water customers beginning tonight at 8 p.m.

This action is being taken in an abundance of caution to protect the health of our utilities customers.

The ground is already soft from recent heavy rains, combined with potential flooding, the threat of strong winds and downed trees, there is an increased possibility of damage to the system’s water mains. By boiling water as a precaution, customers will be protected in the case of potential water main breaks.

This precautionary action is being taken because of the changing severe weather conditions. There are no known compromises to the system at this time. Residents are encouraged to fill up containers with their tap water before 8 p.m. to ensure they have safe drinking water to use throughout the storm. Customers who plan to use any water for consumption after 8 p.m. tonight should boil water for at least two minutes prior to using.

Once the storm passes and facilities have been fully reviewed and approved for service, the precautionary boil water notice will be lifted.

8PM EDT: This is nothing short of astronomical. I am at a loss for words to meteorologically describe you the storms small eye and intensity. 897mb pressure with 180 MPH max sustained winds and gusts 200+ MPH. This is now the 4th strongest hurricane ever recorded by pressure on this side of the world. The eye is TINY at nearly 3.8 miles wide. This hurricane is nearing the mathematical limit of what Earth's atmosphere over this ocean water can produce.

PSLPD Receiving Multiple Complaints of Previously Investigated School Threat

PSLPD is aware of and has received multiple complaints of a school shooting threat that has been circulating around social media, specifically on SnapChat. The threat alleges a three part plan culminating in a fire alarm being pulled at an unnamed school to be followed by a shooting.

This specific threat has been previously reported to and investigated by law enforcement and has been linked to a post that originated in the Carolinas. This specific threat was determined to not be credible and there is no threat to our local schools.
