During #EuropeanWeekAgainstCancer, I met the Association of 🇪🇺 @CancerLeagues to discuss tobacco control framework in cancer prevention.
New tobacco and nicotine products are putting young people at risk.
Our rules must keep pace to protect future generations & prevent cancer.

The public consultation for the #Tobacco Products & Advertising Directives from the @EU_Commission opened yesterday.
Already today, more than 80 "angry" citizens from all over the EU replied in English, with rather pro-industry arguments.
Until when are we allowing this?

Most #salt comes from processed foods — not the shaker.
Hidden salt increases blood pressure and raises risks of stroke and heart attack.
We need stronger policies to create healthier food environments.

💡 Obesity is shaped by systems- not willpower.
Health systems, food environments, and the places we live all influence risk and outcomes.
Real progress means coordinated action across sectors - alongside the leadership of people living with obesity.

New data published by the CDC Foundation underscore that flavors are a major driver of e-cigarette use among youth and young adults. These data demonstrate why it would be a serious mistake for the FDA to authorize more flavored e-cigarettes.
Key findings include:
•Nearly all (92.5%) youth and young adults who have ever used e-cigarettes started with a flavored product.
•The most common e-cigarette flavors currently used by youth and young adults are fruit, candy/dessert/sweets, mint and menthol.
These data provide fresh evidence to support the FDA’s longstanding position that flavored e-cigarettes pose a substantial risk to young people, including promoting initiation and continued use of e-cigarettes.

Responden a diferentes necesidades.
On this day in 1957, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands signed the Treaty of Rome.
They laid the foundations for today’s European Union.
United in diversity, then and now 🇪🇺
This has new interest with the new 5th edition of the European Code Against Cancer explicitly recommending public transport as good means of getting more steps and exercise into your daily life.
Urban policy matters for health. Over reliance on cars makes us all less healthy.
