The UK Office for Budget Responsibility published their fiscal risk and sustainability report. Due to Wimbledon, World Cup etc., it hasn’t had the coverage it deserves.
If we carry on spending as we are, the government deficit will balloon (left), meaning debt will rise from 100% of GDP to 300% (right).
It means the UK will be bust unless spending is reined in. Luckily we have @andyburnham to sort things out.

@EricBalchunas Pubs have been given licences to stay open to 5am in the UK - I suspect work may be taking a backseat on Monday 😴 Lots if schools delaying opening until 10am to “take pressure off parents” - this is serious stuff!
First IFISA I’ve seen in the UK - allows holding of @21shares Bitcoin ETNs.
Only tax free option at the moment for UK bitcoin holders who want to hold a fund rather than self-custody.
I’d not heard of Stratiphy until I saw this but show as FCA regulated. DYOR and NFA.

@TXMCtrades Just a little short 😉- try a five day cricket test match. Sounds like it has a lot of the same dynamics....

I’m delighted to report that @ajbell are now trading Bitcoin (CBTC), Ethereum staking (ETHC) and the @21shares Bitcoin and Gold ETF (BOLD) in the United Kingdom. Massive progress and a very welcome change.
@Thesecretinves2 @CustardKid@saylor But still can be subject to 15% withholding tax in your ISA. My platform says this is taken out by an upstream agent/custodian and they cannot change it.
“The average price of a flat in London has tumbled from around £470,000 four years ago to £430,000 today. In Wandsworth, prices have plunged even more dramatically, from highs of £600,000 in 2022 to £530,000 as of December last year.”

Fair point and worth thinking about but I set it up to remove some risks eg
Comes with an inheritance protocol and support so my family, who have no experience or knowledge re handling ₿, can access it if I die suddenly.
We’re all at different levels of knowledge and comfort with the technology. Balancing privacy with risk of loss is whwre I’m at.
@freddienew@rich_rdctd There’s a balance for many of us - holding multi-sig with the support of a platform. So yes self- custody, not on an exchange but KYC is required by the platform. The alternative of a setting up a fully self supporting multi-sig is beyond me at least 🤷♂️
Another vote for Perplexity which I've been trying at Pro -$20 for the last month. It offers access to these engines currently - so you can choose what works best for that task. Also just done my first app build on Perplexity Compute using Claude (with zero compute experience) - currently a free trial with 4000 credits.
