I think you might be missing the structure: The compensation package is performance-based Tesla shares earned only if Tesla hits $8.5T market cap + tough operational goals (20M vehicles, 1M robotaxis, 1M Optimus, $400B EBITDA, etc.) while Elon stays leading at Tesla. All in tranches.
In a merger where he shifts focus or control changes significantly, he gets none of the unvested bonus shares, he forfeits that Tesla-only upside.
Yes, he might gain overall control with a merger, but at the cost of forfeiting this massive comp package shareholders approved in November(~75% support). He also dropped $1B cash buying Tesla shares at current market prices in Sept 2025. That doesn't scream 'I don't need this comp. It screams I want jam, butter and a slice of cheese on my toast. He wants both. Spacex ipo and Tesla comp.

I still think it is noise. I hear your point, about him just wanting control, regardless of the cost, but I am not buying it. Happy to listen to any counter arguments.

Salut, je comprends — être dans le rouge sur Tesla en ce moment, c'est dur et on a envie de vendre à perte. Mais tiens bon.

Elon a investi 1 milliard de dollars de son propre argent dans des actions Tesla en septembre 2025 (son premier gros achat depuis des années). Les actionnaires ont aussi approuvé en novembre son nouveau package de compensation (~75 % de oui), qui pourrait valoir jusqu'à 1 000 milliards de dollars — 100 % lié à la performance de Tesla seulement (véhicules, IA, robots, énergie, etc.). Ça ne se transfère pas dans un éventuel deal SpaceX.

Le vrai pari, c'est l'autonomie et Optimus. 2026 pourrait être une année importante. Regarde sur 4-5 ans : si ta conviction long terme tient toujours, cette baisse ne vaut pas le coup de réaliser la perte. Tu n'es pas seul. Respire un coup et tiens la ligne.
