@HikariSnep Oh man, that's really sad. Although tbh the main reason I did use it personally was for the satellite view time skip feature, so atleast that is in web earth now
While protecting young people from exploitation is a noble and vital goal, the PM is deliberately ignoring the terrifying reality of how his proposed policy would actually be enforced.
Companies like Apple and Google will effectively be forced to introduce state-mandated surveillance software (spyware) on every single phone, tablet and laptop in the UK.
Furthermore, because each device must know if the user is a child to block the content, this policy guarantees the roll-out of mandatory digital ID checks for the entire population, effectively killing internet privacy and online anonymity for us all.
We also must question the sudden sense of urgency and tough talk today.
Just last month, Jess Phillips resigned from the government over this exact issue, calling out Starmer for pursuing only "incremental change," and worrying more about upsetting tech bosses than protecting children.
Why the sudden pivot? It is hard to see this ultimatum as an act of genuine conviction. Instead, much like his rushed, unworkable social media ban, it looks like another desperate cynical attempt to shore up Starmer's political legacy before the looming by-election and leadership contest.
Expected on Wednesday for The Kingโs Speech.
Looks like HS2 is reaching Manchester and Crewe after all.
Hopefully the train goes faster than the legislation to build it. ๐
@tomhfh I rode the new ones in Utrecht recently, honestly really enjoyed them! They're a lot more nimble and also way quicker to accelerate/brake (although perhaps that's just because they're new and haven't been worn down yet)
It's awesome to see that despite how dogshit the infrastructure down CS7 is, in peak it's still very well used! (and this was taken today! Not even a strike day) Imagine this with a cycle superhighway
Having some of the Welwyn services taken over by crossrail would free up more capacity at Moorgate at peak for the Hertford loop line, which might be needed if the crews hill development goes ahead
One thing that I haven't seen anyone talking about with TFL taking over the GN Inner services, is that the 2015 crossrail 2 map had it terminating above ground at New Southgate, but with them running that branch, i wonder if it would be ran up to Welwyn GC instead
No new secrets unveiled in TfL's 5-year plan unveiled today
โ West London Orbital development
โ Moorgate LO
โ Plan Progression for Bakerloo extension
โ Central Line and Tram stock replacement
It also confirms TfL's slow march towards 50% of stations being accessible
I want London to look like Maida Vale, Chelsea, Pimlico, Kensington...
Mansion blocks are arguably the perfect form of urban densification - and have been made illegal to build in any elegant way in London today.
