The lungs of the Earth will breathe easier tonight 🌳 🌳 🌳
Lula officially wins the Brazil presidential election promising to stop deforestation in Brazil’s Amazon rainforest, after four years of surging destruction under Bolsonaro. 🧵 1/
Many people don’t feel safe to ride on roads with only painted bike lanes. We need separated bike lanes from traffic like this one. Hopefully they now have good signage to alert drivers and cyclists @BikeAKL#aklbikelife
Thankyou so much for adding protection to the Upper Harbour Cycleways @AklTransport
We use this route to visit my partners parents on the North Shore; the complete bits feel significantly safer now :)
Beautiful day for the opening of one more shared path, New Lynn to Avondale. On our return home, we rode 20km almost all the way away from traffic. Those are the connections we want to be able to make by bike! #aklbikelife @BikeAKL
Did you know? 86% of travel is only 1-2 stars for bicyclists (based on a 358,000km sample of roads across 54 countries). As we celebrate #WorldBicycleDay lets all work together to improve the safety of #roadinfrastructure for ALL #roadusers. #3starorbetter https://t.co/Lru2eNMt4L
Happy World Bicycle Day! Today we put the humble bike in the spotlight. People have been enjoying the freedom of two wheels for two centuries. We asked our team to share their favourite path or area in Auckland to enjoy a bike ride #WorldBikeDay
On the same day the Mayor just released Auckland Climate Change budget 🤔 “In the firing line from mid-2023 are $101m of Auckland Transport projects, including a 15% cut in cycling investment, a 30% cut in improvements favouring alternatives to driving, …” @BikeAKL#aklbikelife
A Government cheque will save this year's Auckland Council budget, but hard times lie ahead as the supercity scrambles to plug an annual $150m hole. https://t.co/snWmTpOuMS
I was there. It was peaceful, joyful, healthy with lots of families, all ages, shapes and good will. We still don’t have a lane and an inclusive way to cross the harbour. #aklbikelife#liberatethelane
One year ago, 2,5k Aucklanders rally through the Auckland Harbour Bridge asking for equitable access to the other side of the harbour by bike.
We’ve been waiting for this promise since 2018, and still don’t have an answer.
