A Celebration of Dr. Barry A. Kogan's 50 Years of Urology: 1976-2026
Some mentors teach you urology. The special ones see something in you before you see it in yourself.
Honored to celebrate my former Urology Chairman (Albany Medical Center), Dr. Barry Kogan, at his Festschrift.
When I applied for residency, I included something unusual in my application — a leadership log. Years later, Dr. Kogan remembered it and told me that I stood out because he had never seen one before.
I certainly wasn’t the best resident at times..but he was always supportive, gentle, and encouraging. He made me feel special and believed there was something in me worth developing.
Years later, as I mentor medical students and young physicians, I realize how powerful that was.
Great mentors don’t just teach us what to do.
They help us believe in who we can become.
Thank you, Dr. Kogan, for believing in that young resident with the leadership log. I hope I’ve made you proud.
Your legacy lives on through all of us you trained. We strive to emulate you 👊🏽
As Dr. Kogan always says, “Make a difference”

Just received this text yesterday from my friend Joe who saw the video on Anktiva
"I'm almost in tears, Justin has been my friend for decades. Thank you so very much"
Anktiva, the Cancer Bioshield. This is why we do what we do.
Fix it. Don’t manage it. My motto for tx of ureteral strictures. Thousands of patients suffering from chronic ureteral strictures with stents and nephrostomy tubes for life. Most cases can be successfully repaired robotically using cutting edge techniques. @templemedschool
