If you think it's remarkable that @derrickvanorden couldn't stay sober on a two hour flight you're not giving the man enough credit—he was hammered well before they got on that plane, AF1 was to keep the slurring going
New statement from Scott Pelley:
There has never been anything in America like 60 Minutes.
The Sunday tradition is the most successful program of any kind in history. For more than a decade, its innovative growth on every major online platform has extended its reach to countless millions around the world. This spring, at the end of our 58thseason, 60 Minutes grew rapidly with an unheard-of 9% jump in viewers on CBS.
“60” has been the number-one program in America for decades because our beloved audience finds integrity, quality, and humanity in our stories. When stewardship of the program passed to my colleagues and me, our responsibility was to expand energetically into a new age of media technology while preserving the values our audience expects. Now, the new owner of our network is casting this legend aside, apparently to curry a moment of favor with the Trump administration.
The waste is heartbreaking.
Last month, 60 Minutes lost its DNA when our entire senior leadership and two of our best on-air correspondents were cruelly fired without cause. Good people were silenced because they stood up for our audience. They stood for fairness against the forces of political bias; they stood for professionalism against chaos.
For my part, new management has instructed me to inject falsehoods and bias into a politically sensitive story. I’ve been told to include assertions that are unverified. To date, in every case, I have managed to ignore these instructions or refuse them. Recently, politicians have been invited to choose correspondents for interviews on the broadcast. Giving politicians control over 60 Minutes interviews is not how this is done. Finally, incompetence and unprofessionalism in the new management have wreaked havoc. In a case involving one of my stories, the entire program came within 19 minutes of not getting on the air at all.
At 60 Minutes, we have fought harder than anyone knows to save the program that became an American icon. We owed that to our millions of viewers. I am deeply moved by the thousands of wishes we have received to “keep up the good fight.” Most of the men and women of CBS News are still in that fight. But now the collapse of values at the top has become untenable. The leadership of 60 Minutes is no longer recognizable. The principles I hold dear are gone, and so I must leave as well.
I depart after 37 years at CBS with one emotion—a heart brimming with gratitude for the men and women of CBS News who encouraged and enriched my work, very often at the risk of their own lives. I pray for a day when those people and their ideals are honored again—a day when sanity, competence, and courage return.

Ossoff: They tried to run Kemp, but he refused. So we're left with the congressman who's only a congressman because his daddy was a congressman and the coach, who's only a coach because his daddy was a coach.
It doesn't matter which one wins . They're both Trump puppets and we'll beat either one of them in November
Ossoff on his Republican opponents: "They're pro-war, they're pro-tariffs, they're pro-cutting healthcare. Let's find out where they stand on the crooked ballroom and the insurrectionist slush fund."
NEW: The health official who led the public response to the Hantavirus outbreak has little background in public health and previously was a penile implant specialist who hosted a podcast where he questioned the 2020 election and compared the Biden administration to Nazi Germany.
.@CongressmanKean, where are you? While working people struggle to get by, you're trading stocks. New Jerseyans want a representative that shows up to the job and looks out for their wallets -- not just his own.
You're about to see headlines saying abortion pills can't be shipped. THAT IS NOT TRUE
You can still get abortion pills by mail to all fifty states.
Some providers will switch to miso-only, some will ship both mife & miso. I got into all of this when the federal court ruling first dropped on my S*ubstack.
"That's right, ditto. Yes, yes to that"
Jen Kiggans says after a radio host says Hakeem Jeffries should get his "cotton-picking hands" off of Virginia.
Axelrod: There are a lot of people who would like you to run for president in 2028. And there are others who would like you to run for the senate.
AOC: In this op-ed that Bezos paid for in The Washington Post, there was a veiled threat—it was the elite saying if you want this job, you just stepped out of line. What’s funny about that is they assume my ambition is positional. They assume my ambition is a title or a seat. My ambition is way bigger than that. My ambition is to change this country. Presidents come and go, elected officials come and go, single payer healthcare is forever.
HHS Secretary Kennedy’s net approval is 12 points underwater in our polling. With another serious virus gaining traction, will Americans trust him to lead in a health crisis?
🚨GREAT NEWS: our bill to let SNAP families buy hot rotisserie chicken just passed the House!
After raising a pile of kids, I know what a life saver a hot chicken can be when you need to put food on the table at the end of a long day. It’s backwards to stop SNAP families from from buying this fast, easy, and affordable meal…time to fix it and give working families a break.
Always read @MargieOmero, but especially when she's writing about Trump regretters — who now make up ~20% of his 2024 voting pool.
Very bad news for the MAGA movement. https://t.co/ossrQEOouG
