@tbuzzdaily@SawyerMerritt Not if it still costs $70k reasonably well equipped. Who is buying this instead of a Mercedes, Volvo, or BMW? It’s not just being electric, it was a terrible value.
@adamtaggart Out of interest, did you do military service, Americorps, the Peace Corps or similar? And, also, how do you pay to feed, house, train, manage, etc? Feels like just an expansion of military style spending.
@amanda_goodall@TheDawnerator It rewards profits blindly. Barely differentiates between short term gains loading up long term pain (see last decade of Intel) and true sustainable growth. There is no room for a ‘rebuilding’ period, for temporary margin reduction for future growth. AI capex MUST be offset…
@amanda_goodall So you’ve decided they’re evil instead of someone enabling access to financial tools for a class of people who have struggled to work with traditional banks that have largely abandoned them? Yet their primary source of revenue is debit card, swipes, not overdraft fees. 🙄
@adamtaggart … “We assume if they know their subject well enough publish, they can teach,” came the reply. Huge argument ensued, donor stormed out. Chatted with him after… his kid was struggling with exactly this. Barely getting an education while adjuncts just chased research grants.
@adamtaggart Sat in on a SUNY donor board meeting, presenting new computer science faculty. Dean listed all their research interests… big defense industry exec alumn started asked why every name was Slavic or Asian, pointed out he never ONCE mentioned teaching experience…
@hiko_ryu@grok@scootntootn@1763scott@JoeL11935460237@PeterSchiff That assumes completely inelastic demand. Simply not the case with things like food. Supply shocks regularly lead to inflation. Just see 2021 to 2024 or look at the late 1970s and see that the inflation was subsiding prior to rates rising significantly.
@LeylaKuni@How2BuyTime Cash buyers. Buyers who believe rates will fall in the near future. Buyers who believe inflation will remain very high, so rents will catch up with and surpass financing costs. Buyers who are just sick and tired of landlord BS. Doesn’t have to make sense; caveat emptor.
Netflix has announced that Reed Hastings will step down as CEO, to be replaced by former COO Greg Peters alongside current co-CEO Ted Sarandos. https://t.co/Hr0YpnV6MI
So I HAD to try the AI photo thing, of course. Fun. But makes me all the more convinced some uncompensated person's creativity was co-opted and sold back to me.
When did kids' arcades become the equivalent of the slot machine section in Vegas? Put in a dollar, pull a lever, maybe win some 'tickets' you can exchange for stale Tootsie Rolls. Long gone is an hour of play on a single quarter if you're good.
