Training for rapid DDNS sequencing of poliovirus at the Institut Pasteur de Madagascar with trainees from Côte d'Ivoire, CAR, Madagascar and Algeria @VaccineEpi
@NIBSC_MHRA
@MRC_Outbreak@polionanopore
And to finish off, the lab have performed near-whole genome sequencing of poliovirus in single reads using native barcoding. Great work! @OmaniMOH@VaccineEpi @NIBSC_MHRA @MRC_Outbreak@polionanopore
Rapid analysis of DDNS poliovirus data using @AineToole 's Poliovirus Investigation Resource Automating Nanopore Haplotype Analysis (PIRANHA) software running in ARTIFICE- from RNA to sequences in 2.5 days. @OmaniMOH@VaccineEpi @NIBSC_MHRA @MRC_Outbreak@polionanopore
Training in direct detection and nanopore sequencing (DDNS) for rapid #polio outbreak detection underway with the Central Public Health Laboratories in Oman. @OmaniMOH@VaccineEpi @NIBSC_MHRA @MRC_Outreak @polionanopore
Congratulations to #INRB@labgenpath team who stands as a key asset for @AfricaCDC Pathogen Genomics Initiative, expanding sequencing capacity to better monitor and control infectious disease #outbreaks in #DRC and beyond in the Central African region.
@Central_RCC
postdoc epidemiology / evolutionary biology role with our team working on #polio eradication. opportunity to be involved in the Endgame! Deadline 23 Feb. DM or email me if interested. @ImperialSPH@MRC_Outbreak@gatesfoundation

First trial of our remote training for direct detection of poliovirus from stool by nanopore sequencing today, with the Institut National de Recherche Biomédicale in DRC @nanopore@inrb_kinshasa
Anyone inferring more sequencing issues from my lack of tweets would be correct. Two weeks of troubleshooting, results due in the <distant> future. Real science is hard.. if this were a movie we would have obliterated several invading alien species with that amount of effort.
One near heart attack later, after it looked like another failed protocol, we might actually have some polio genomes to sequence. Hopefully I won't succumb to library-prep related trauma first.
Better do one of those selfies (as my work experience kids spent the entire week doing). Spent mins trying to get both the suitcases in and make my face less round. Achieved neither. Prob need an emoji: 🐠
We'll begin with the valiant effort to stuff everything into a suitcase again. Definitely going to work this time. I should probably add a hashtag too.. er.. #Suitcase (I think that's how this works- I'm sure @alis_njc will correct me otherwise)
