@RyLiberty@jacksonhinkle Name an industry that Japan is dominating relative to China. I have lived in Japan, Taiwan, and China since '87, spending the bubble years in Japan and first visited China in 88. Japan has barely changed since, while China has totally transformed. I love Japan, but, be real.
@dnystedt 40 trillion govt debt in US is visible, but unfunded liabilities are massive...not to mention aging infrastructure.... the main issue with RMB is capital controls....don't expect the RMB to replace the USD anytime soon..... let's see what surprises Trump delivers next
@dnystedt Let's not forget that two generations of Taiwanese slaved away, often working 24hrs around the clock, for low salaries, sacrificing their health and family lives to build the world's leading semiconductor industry on a few barren fields, while Lutnick feasted on Wall Street.
@TechCharts@dnystedt 1990, 2000, 2008 crashes look like blips on this chart, but many people's fortunes were permanently destroyed, and even worse π.. something to remember in moments of exuberance .. π
@corry_wang Just an interesting counterpoint, I just spent 10 days in Shanghai. I am quite low-tech, and didn't get a local SIM. I expected to struggle paying . To my surprise, they accepted cash almost everywhere. Restaurants, taxis, shops. Accessing free wifi was impossible though.
@dnystedt Quite interesting (ironic?) remembering that UMC was motivated to spin off all its design groups in the 90s and go 100 pct foundry due to lawsuits from Intel related to UMCs CPU production.
