FPL GW5 (Free Hit)๐
7 penalty takers, evil Saka, and whoever plays on the left against Coventry as a captain. Everything you need for a green arrow.
Not only is this data completely wrong, but categorical statements based on tiny xG samples are also completely missing the point of xG.
Same shit with "he scored X points from Y xGI today, he's extremely lucky". If we're talking about one match, we're looking at perhaps a couple of shots and chances created. There is a stupidly large amount of outcome variance at that level.
Even the way individual chances are classified by xG can be noisy, that makes it impossible to jump straight from an observed gap between xG and actual points to a conclusion about luck and shit. The gap is real, but you need enough opportunities for random variation to wash out before you can confidently identify something meaningful.
BUT using data incorrectly as a coping mechanism for this game is completely fine honestly. If that helps any of you cope with FPL, I would actually advise continuing to do it. There aren't many things you can control in this game anyway.
Pascal Groร has 6 G/A from 0.89 xGI in all competitions this season, excluding pens.
Thatโs extremely unsustainable. Expect a massive regression very soon.
I stand by the fact that serious managers arenโt buying him now.
If a player you don't own has more goals than xG, he's overperforming, and it's an anomaly.
If a player you own has more goals than xG, he's an incredible finisher.
You're welcome!
@fplsebv So you haven't counted one of his assists while not counting penalty xG still, that's a smart manipulation to make a tweet more dramatic fair play
