Then explain to me Is 9:6. "For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace." Those are the names of each person of the Trinity!
@PracticalTheolo@JoshuaBarzon 💯 well put.
Basically it was more of a movement/religious stance rather than a denomination way it seems.
It does also seem like Unitarianism as a whole was considered to be less heretical. These days, no way a majority Christian nation would vote in a “heretic” lol
@PracticalTheolo@JoshuaBarzon Seems like that movement fell apart mostly due to lack of organization and dabbling in liberalism along with other interesting doctrines that couldn’t draw any unity.
@aztjk35@MarcoMortensen@CertainSpeaks Marco doesn’t deny Jesus being Christ and the Son of God.
I would argue that those who argue that he is ontologically God are denying that he is THE Son
@aztjk35@MarcoMortensen@CertainSpeaks And yes. Jesus also receives proskuneo worship. As he is the mediator between God and men ( 1 Tim 2:5 ) as God made him Lord ( Acts 2:36 )
@aztjk35@MarcoMortensen@CertainSpeaks No he’s right. 2 different words for worship. In a correct worship manner only the Father receives Latria worship where as proskuneo worship can be directed at a representative that God appoints. For example - the church of Philadelphia receives similar worship in Rev 3
@MaximilPlan3t@farmingandJesus Lizzie knows about most of these… she just refuses to see the truth and accept it.
For her (like most “Christians”) it’s better to be accepted by your peers than follow what the Bible actually says
@LogosFilium@farmingandJesus 3 of the 7 major founding fathers were confirmed non-trinitarian and 2 more were believed to also hold the sane views but that’s not too confirmed
@RaypEatNanaya@farmingandJesus I’m surprised you know that at least. You just failed to connect how that would moot your point.
Btw those translations are from linguists and scholars.
In fact, one of the earlier Bibles (Coptic) had a definite article included so it would sound more like “the word was a god”
@farmingandJesus I don’t. But I’m glad you recognize that the Torah taught of Unitarianism.
Paul continues to worship the God they worshipped ( Acts 24:14 )
@RaypEatNanaya@farmingandJesus Where does John 1:1 say anything about the trinity ?
Most scholars these days recognize the translation ambiguity.
Since the word “Theos” is missing the definite article infront of it it should be translated as “the Word was divine”
