Really glad to contribute to this work led by the crazy-talented (although not on social media!) Rebeka Butkovic 🎉 An exciting first step into the fascinating world of cell biology! 🧪🧫
Using virion vRNPs, together with purified proteins, we have, for the first time, recreated the switch from influenza virus transcription to replication, AND a full cycle of genome replication inside a test tube🧪@AmandaZihanZhu@haitian_fan@PLOSBiology

Ready for #NSV2022 after a cancelled flight led to an unexpected journey to Heathrow airport! ✈️ Excited to catch up with old friends and make some new ones!
In a world where viruses, scientists and llamas co-exist…. happy to share our work in collaboration with Grimes' lab, on mapping inhibitory sites on the RNA polymerase of the 1918 pandemic influenza virus using nanobodies produced in llamas. Check it out!

Really happy to see this piece of work out. With @amandaz83411502 we structurally and functionally characterised 24 nanobodies against the 1918 influenza virus polymerase. @fodorlab@jonathan_grimes@OxfordStrubi@Dunn_School https://t.co/yJMEWLBlx8
New preprint alert 🚨 Our latest SARS-CoV-2 work, showing that one of the domains in the viral RNA polymerase is an enzyme involved in viral RNA capping (and this reaction is inhibited by remdesivir TP)!
Another stunning talk from @AlexWalkerPath on how 'mutation of a Flu polymerase 3' RNA promoter binding site inhibit transcription elongation' was delievered! Great work! #IUM2020#Influenza
We present the first structures of influenza virus polymerase bound to an essential host factor, and these give us some amazing insights into how the #flu virus replicates/adapts for new hosts! Congratulations everyone @CarriqueLoic@haitian_fan@JeremyKeown1@jonathan_grimes
Many congratulations to all the winners at today's Graduate Student Symposium! 🏅🏅🏅
1st year poster prize: Shengpan Zhang (Sattentau group)
2nd year poster prize: @RuthKetley (Gullerova group) and @lu_fangfang (@freeman_lab)
3rd year talk prize: @AlexWalkerPath (Fodor Group)
Our virtual progress seminars continue! Last week Nandita Bodra @LeaLabTweets talked about structural work on the complement system. Yesterday, Florian Zobel @IvanAhelLab discussed PARP1 and tomorrow @AlexWalkerPath (Fodor lab) tell us more about his #COVID19 research
