@jessesingal I mean 12 years ago Belgium was better and the US was worse just talent-wise and yet we took them to extra-time. And look at Cape Verde. So it's just weak mentality from the team and that's what is unacceptable.
@coldxman There's a difference between "That was a bad call" and "The officials literally broke the rules to make a bad call" that seems important to me.
@coldxman Again like 99% of the people tweeting about this have no idea how the rules work. But from what I can tell, the VAR officials may have actually violated FIFA's own rules by using slow motion video to review that call. Which is a point few people are mentioning.
This made me think instantly of a line from that big viral Atlantic article awhile back; people who treat their spouse as a dumping ground for all their frustrations never seem to get how corrosive it is to routinely inflict your worst self on the people who love you most
From @TheAthleticFC: Folarin Balogun will be available to play the USMNT’s round of 16 match against Belgium with his one-game red-card ban suspended. Multiple FIFA officials previously said that a team cannot appeal a red card or suspension. https://t.co/kBYEyot5tk
