I did research in college on US public opinion in the 60s and 70s on the Arab-Israel conflict, and one of my most interesting findings was that whenever support for Israel started to lag a little, you would predictably see a heavily-marketed TV network movie or series involving the Holocaust within a year, and this programming would just as predictably cause an immediate shift upwards in support for the Jewish state.
