@SirGeorgeYoung We’re being taken to court next week and are threatened with a CCJ because our freeholder owns leaseholds in our block of flats. 88 people in our block are at risk. This loophole in the Building Safety Act makes us a non relevant building. Pls help…
Today I recieved a service charge demand for £6200
My service charge doubled due to costs involved in registering our building to the Building Safety Regulator in accordance with BSA 2022
Thanks @michaelgove @luhc I can no longer afford to live in my home 👏
#FreeLeaseholders
Latitude 52 leaseholders are hoping today positive changes to the BSA will happen when our @LukePollard meets with senior officials from DLUHC and help us become qualified leaseholders instead of the loophole which has made us unqualified. @luhc @michaelgove@EOCS_Official
The Earl of Lytton will be tabling a range of leasehold reform and building safety amendments in the House of Lords after Easter.
The most comprehensive of these for building safety remains the https://t.co/6mb7YFFbg3 consumer protection legislation covering every leaseholder in the country against historic and ongoing remediation costs without the need of taking a builder to court.
The Earl of Lytton summarises how this ground breaking legislation works in the video below.
Drafted by Daniel Greenberg CB @DgLimited and backed by Grenfell Inquiry construction counsel @drfsawtell, @TedBaillieu, @PropertymarkUK, @thetimes, @NRLAssociation and many others... It is vital on this seventh attempt the government implements this vital legislation after Easter

Proud to speak on the front bench about building safety today.
It’s nearly seven years on from the Grenfell Fire, yet only 21% of high-rise blocks have been made fully safe and hundreds of thousands are still trapped in dangerous flammable flats.

🚨 As @Tarahwelsh recently reported London service charges are now so high that people can't afford to live in their flat. But they can't sell either.
This means most flats in London can't be sold to a *mortgaged* buyer.
@Lee4NED See the problem?
@mtpennycook@MikeAmesburyMP
💯 Alongside @EOCS_Official, we're calling on Government & Opposition politicians to use the Leasehold & Freehold Reform Bill to ensure ALL leaseholders have equal protection from the cost of building safety defects 👇

@NonQualifyingLH @luhc @LukePollard Yet another reason why we need to establish a funding stream to protect everyone leaseholder in the country.
The answer is the Earl of Lytton's https://t.co/6WC8j1LRXh as the government well knows!
@luhc @GoveMichal@Lee4NED what does this actually mean? Are we protected if our freeholder owns leases in our block through a LTD company? Please share.
