As Muslims in New York City and around the world mark the beginning of the Islamic New Year, Muharram calls us to reflect on the values of justice, compassion, and moral courage that guide us in our lives and our communities.
As we welcome this new year, may it renew our commitment to one another and to the work of building a city where every New Yorker can live with dignity and opportunity.
Meta got the call to clean up any “troublesome” accounts. Can’t have people being informed before the primaries. Seems like AIPAC Tracker was actually doing Gods work. They hate that. Instagram is suppose to keep you ignorant and entertained
Analilia Mejia has declared VICTORY in the #NJ11 special primary election!
AIPAC's millions were no match for voters who stand for justice, not genocide. This race showed that Americans see through bad-faith tactics and reject unconditional support for a rogue apartheid state. AIPAC has lost control of the narrative, and our democracy is stronger for it.
In the final week of the race, Track AIPAC made a strategic television investment in support of Mejia that directly named AIPAC as a political actor in the election and explicitly described Israel’s war in Gaza as a genocide. The ad rejected the premise that Democratic candidates must remain silent on Gaza to be considered viable and challenged the role of outside money in enforcing that silence.
That message broke through.
Congratulations, @AnaliliaForNJ! 🎉

Francesca Albanese speaks to @mathildamall on MEE Live about the severe implications of US sanctions on an individual, such as in Albanese’s case, with fears that Donald Trump may sanction the ICC.
What would that mean for global justice?

Canadian ICC Judge Kimberly Prost has told Al Jazeera's @stepvaessen that US sanctions have had a ‘crippling effect’ on her life. She’s one of nine officials sanctioned by the US for trying to prosecute American and Israeli nationals.
⚠️ Meta Erases Gaza Journalist’s Instagram — Archived Versions Also Missing
Instagram has removed the verified account of Gaza journalist Saleh al-Jafarawi (4.5 million followers). Writer @SusanAbulhawa noted that archived snapshots of his page on the Wayback Machine, the internet’s largest public archive, also appear to have been wiped or disabled.
While it’s unclear how or why those archives vanished, Abulhawa says the coincidence raises concern about a broader digital erasure of Palestinian documentation.
Al-Jafarawi, widely followed for his on-the-ground coverage of the Gaza genocide, had faced repeated censorship before his account’s removal. He was killed yesterday by an armed group reportedly collaborating with Israel.
Abulhawa warned that this could mark “a new phase in efforts to wipe evidence of Israeli war crimes from the internet.”

An illegal Israeli settler shot and critically wounded Odeh Hadalin, a prominent Palestinian activist featured in the Oscar-winning documentary No Other Land, in Masafer Yatta, in the occupied West Bank.
Odeh was rushed to hospital and later died, according to his friends.
Residents identified the shooter as Yinon Levi, who is sanctioned by both the EU and the US
@pvdcitycouncil So glad to see this. A testament to the large and growing support for the Palestinian people and the contribution Palestinian Americans have made to our society
