Working in a corporate environment can drive someone go crazy because tell me why you’ll set a rule and a culture that everybody should be addressed by their first name and you’ll still pick an offense from the same culture 😂
Now he is saying he is to be addressed as Mr Tony instead whereas my supervisor said yesterday in a meeting that when you’re using Mr or Mrs for someone then you are to go by their surname and not First name
Which one should we believe??
This makes me recall my stay in north, I get the learnt that Hausa language is like an English language to Nigeria, a language that unite all Nigeria in terms of communication.
Majority of them, has indigenous languages and religions distinct from Islam that we are familiar with
I am a Northern girl. But I am not the Northern girl you imagined.
When people hear “Northern Nigeria,” many immediately picture a Muslim Hausa woman.
That woman exists.
But so do I.
I am a Northern girl. I am Christian. I am not Hausa. I am Laka/Godogodo.
And sometimes explaining that feels like I am introducing myself three times before people finally understand where I come from.
The problem is that Northern Nigeria has been reduced to one religion, one language, one culture and one kind of woman.
But the North is not one people.
There are Christians. Traditionalists. Muslims. Indigenous ethnic groups. Minority languages. Women who wear hijab and women who don’t. Women who grew up in churches. Women who grew up in mosques. Women whose grandparents spoke languages most Nigerians have never even heard of.
We exist.
And I think one reason many people don’t know we exist is because we haven’t told our stories loudly enough.
So yes, I am a Northern girl.
Just not the version of Northern Nigeria you were taught to imagine.

Communities outside Ilorin in Kwara State claim to pay protection levy fees to bandits so that they do not get attacked.
Outside Ilorin, security presence is extremely thin. Many LGAs have little or no effective policing.
Forest belts (Kaiama, Baruten, Ifelodun axis) are well-known hideouts for kidnappers and bandits.
Community outside Ilorin, speak up.
Our lives matter too.
