Parents are hardly going to be consoled by the assurance that they will avoid prison, when their relationship with their child is irreparably damaged by the inevitable proliferation of spurious "conversion" accusations that this bill will create.
False accusations are already rife. Unfounded social services referrals and safeguarding investigations are ubiquitous among families pursuing a cautious and holistic approach to gender-related issues. Perhaps the minister is unaware of this as she has not spoken to families in our group. Children are already pitted against parents thanks to precisely the kind of claim made in the Government's own survey for this bill that "intentional refusal to use a chosen name or pronouns" constitutes "conversion" and should be regarded as emotional abuse.
The process is the punishment here. Even the highest bar for criminal prosecution will not prevent this bill from further intensifying an already hostile environment for families. The proposals represent an indefensible intrusion into parents' ability to safeguard their children.
Whistleblowers in the NHS and at gender clinics have been trying to raise the alarm for a decade. There is no excuse for continuing to pretend that extremely vulnerable children haven't been irreparably harmed.
Blocking puberty inevitably leads to failure to grow up. There’s 2 ways out: stop blockers and hope normal puberty restarts with only a bit of harm, or, proceed to cross sex hormones, infertility, failure to develop the brain and body normally, pelvic dysfunction, early dementia, metabolic dysfunction and a life of medicalisation.
This is not an option that children or their parents should be able to take.
This is horrific. Autistic boy who needs a care worker to go everywhere with him, failed capacity tests and the @NHS STILL removed his genitals. People should be in prison.
@NadiaWhittomeMP Sex segregation is there for a reason. Because we suffer from sex discrimination, not to mention violence to woman and girls. As a woman you know this. Why do you not care? Argue for third spaces not the erosion of women’s rights.
On 10 April 2024, the Cass Review was published and stated:
"The percentage of people treated with hormones who subsequently detransition remains unknown."
"NHS services should include provision for people who wish to detransition."
"I want detransition to be something that can be openly talked about."
Two years on, and we are still treated as the NHS's dirty little secret. No one wants to mention detransitioners, and when we as detransitioners speak out, we are verbally attacked, made to feel lesser than others, and, worst of all, physically assaulted, as evidenced this weekend.
Thank you @GregoryStafford for raising the important question that you did. I'm not surprised that @jamesmurray_ldn deflected from your important question.
We will continue to push for better health resources and recognition of the UK's detransition community, and we will continue to engage with and challenge politicians on this issue.
I have been ordered to pay $95,000 in "damages" to two men in women's sport because I apparently hurt their feelings. It is potentially going to be doubled because I didn't pay in 30 days. So that is $190,000 in total to reward two men in women's sport. I am appealing in the NSW Supreme Court, so for now, there is a stay on the orders.
@salltweets has been ordered to pay a man $20,000 for not allowing him on her female only app. His hurt feelings claim is hoping to be challenged in the High Court. Sall is still waiting to see if leave will be granted for the appeal.
Jasmine Sussex could have to pay up to $95,000 to a man with hurt feelings who falsely claimed he could breastfeed a tiny baby. Her case is still to be heard by a Queensland tribunal.
None of these numbers include the court costs which run into millions.
Others have lost jobs, been censored, gaslit or threatened if they speak the truth or object to the lie that men can be women.
Men who wish they were women not only want to dominate our sports, spaces and services, they are also trying to make money as they go. It appears quite lucrative if they succeed.
Stand with us. Men are not women and we should never be penalized for stating the facts - especially in court where evidence and facts are meant to be paramount.
@JonIrwinLD@hollowood_zoe@libv Where is the consideration of women’s needs in her letter? We have sex segregation for a reason and so many MPs just couldn’t care less. Good to see you speaking up Jon. We need more men doing so.
