@Elhawary_MD I agree. As an IMG, I think it’s important not to rely too heavily on signaling. A strong application, overall fit, and genuine interest in the program still matter. I would rather apply broadly to programs where my profile is realistically considered. @Elhawary_MD
Every year, the roles change, but the pattern stays the same. Those who once complained about lacking mentorship and having to pay for guidance are now on the other side, charging others for the same. Disappointing to see mentorship become an opportunity to exploit. Do better.
@UsmanHaiderMD Absolutely agree. The people who once struggled because of the lack of genuine mentorship should be the ones creating better opportunities for others—not exploiting the same struggles they once faced. Mentorship should empower, not profit from vulnerability.
