A11: All Walks@ASU frequently tables in popular areas on campus to dispel myths among students and educate them about red flags for trafficking. Each semester we also do clothing and toiletry drives for shelters in the valley that serve victims of #humantrafficking. #AskBlue
A8: While social media plays a large role in recruiting victims, there are many ways social media can be used to raise awareness of the issue as well. Sharing videos or pictures with facts and warning signs of #humantrafficking can educate others on how they can help. #AskBlue
A7: An indicator of #humantrafficking can be a sudden substance abuse issue. Traffickers commonly use drugs to maintain control of their victims. Trafficking can also be masked as dating violence, especially with “Romeo Pimps” who use romance to manipulate victims. #AskBlue
A6: (3/3) Our officer watched the man approach others and eventually begin to leave with a female student he had been flirting with. She followed her gut and called campus police, who then arrested the man, finding him to be connected to a local sex trafficking ring. #AskBlue
A6: (2/3) She felt uncomfortable with his behavior and he began to block her means of leaving the dining table when she did not want to talk. She told him her boyfriend was on his way to meet her and then the man abruptly left the table. #AskBlue
A6: (1/3) An officer of our org. was approached late at night at an on-campus restaurant by a man who asked if she was alone and if he could sit with her. He claimed to be conducting a survey for the radio, then made advances to sit closer to her and ask her questions. #AskBlue
A5: Traffickers use social media to recruit victims by sometimes posing as romantic interests online. They can communicate with a targeted victim for an extended period of time online and eventually use this relationship to meet and control the individual in-person. #AskBlue
A1: All Walks@ASU raises awareness about #humantrafficking on campus by educating students and empowering them to recognize and identify warning signs, while also participating in relevant local volunteering opportunities. #AskBlue
