On this day in 1946: Scottish inventor of the television, John Logie Baird, died aged 58. In January 1926, he gave the world’s first demonstration of true television in London in front of scientists and a reporter from The Times.
On this day in 1831: 'Scotland's forgotten Einstein' scientist James Clerk Maxwell was born in Edinburgh. Nicknamed "daftie" by his fellow pupils at Edinburgh Academy, he went on to produce the world’s first ever colour photograph in 1861 & was a pioneer in mathematical physics.
