Hey, @SBCMeeting, can we please go back to having the @IMB_SBC commissioning service on Tuesday night at 7 pm? This is the main reason we are cooperating together in the first place. I miss the commissioning service being the main event and not just another report time. #SBC26
This story about my dad doesn’t surprise me one bit. He has faithfully lived out what it means to love God & others, and I cannot express how impactful his model of life has been on me as a daughter. Thank you, Dean, for sharing this!
@johnmarkclifton This would be a great idea! The only problem I can think of would come from funding. It is very expensive to be the President of the Pastor’s Conference, supplying the travel and lodging of speakers and musicians. Worth looking into options though for sure.
Attention, ladies! There's a brand new 11-week study co-created by Donna Gaines called Real Woman. This study helps women embrace God's purpose for creating them female and to understand how they are essential to Christ's mission and work. Learn more at https://t.co/zoSTCmbwHs.
No “evangelicals are not debating ____.” Seven weird people on Twitter are debating ____.” Everyone else is picking their kids up from school, wondering about what to make for dinner, and probably helping their neighbor.
Can you imagine being a pastor who spends time out of each hour of the day as the Convention Watchdog, alarmed by any and everything that *might* cause a stir on here? When do they pastor? Or pray? Or read their Bible? Is this actually a holy endeavor?
@MichelleDLesley There is a board of pastor’s wives who have been over it since it’s founding in the early 2000s after the encouragement of Dr. Adrian Rogers.
@DGrantGaines Love this! We made the same choice when the high school squad began competition cheer on the weekends. Grateful for her strong convictions and trust in the Lord!
Today, as I was working in the yard & processing past church events that were so hurtful as a pastor’s wife, a former member stopped by just to say hello & express her gratitude for my husband’s ministry to her as her pastor. What a grace from the Lord. Timely encouragement.
As much as I love the SBC, as a PK & former pastor’s wife, watching a two day Baptist business meeting is triggering. I am proud of the work being done by many of our entities, especially the IMB & NAMB, but seeing divisiveness & anger being spewed from a few mics is hard.
While we’re denominationally clarifying who gets to be a pastor — and I’m 100% on board with male-only eldership — can we include reviewing the unbiblical tradition of deacons as functional elders?
