Congratulations to all the tenacious vendors and advocates on today's win! And thank you to the staffers who worked so hard and the CMs who UNANIMOUSLY approved the Street Vendor Advancement Act of 2023!

So amazingly impressed and proud of the DC Vendors who fought for years for this and achieved change !!
Thank you to @BrianneKNadeau for your leadership on this bill!
A true example of government working for the people
I love seeing our vendors on the front of today’s @postlocal Metro section! W/ the support of @ChmnMendelson, I look forward to finally advancing better licensing processes and moving enforcement from the police to the licensing agencies.

A little thread on the state of street vending in DC 🧵
Right now, street vending without a license is a crime. Punishable by up to 90 days in prison or $2k-$16k in fines. Hundreds have been arrested and fined in the last few years - just for trying to earn a living.
