The WA State Supreme Court has overturned the will of the people in I-2066, the initiative to protect natural gas use in WA.
Once again, the Court used the "single-subject rule" as its justification for denying the people's voice. And the right they retain in the State Constitution. This rule has become the default excuse the Court uses when it has no good reason to reject a people's initiative.
This use of the "single-subject rule" is intellectually lazy and dishonest. But it's something sponsors of initiatives have to anticipate. We did that effectively with I-2081 (the original WA Parents' Bill of Rights), I-2111 (no state income tax) and I-2113 (restore police pursuits)--which all passed court scrutiny.
In WA, writing an initiative is similar to writing legislation. But not exactly the same. The State Supreme Court applies different standards of review. That's not right, but it's reality.
This fall, vote for Edwards, Stevens, O'Donnell, Larson and Bloom to the WA State Supreme Court. They will respect the State Constitution and the initiative process.

Dubious Distinction: Washington State ranks dead last (50 out of 50 states) for farm profitability according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).

State level policies including high fuel costs/taxes, high taxes overall, and a mountain of red tape keeps constraining our farmers and the agricultural community. We are losing two farms everyday in our state on average too (Source: Seattle Times).

We must lower, not increase, the cost of doing businesses for farmers. Fuel prices can be reduced immediately by 55 cents a gallon of gas through pausing the Climate Commitment Act and Low Carbon Fuel Standards.

Farmers provide our food. It's well past time for state government to stop hindering them and instead have their backs.

One stupid public comment from the current WA governor.
One informed comment (in three screenshots) from the current US Dept of Agriculture Secretary and several western governors NOT from WA.
The "Roadless Rule" is a radical leftist bureaucratic policy that limits firefighters' ability to fight fires. And forest managers' ability to manage forests. It's the kind of dumb left-wing virtue signaling that someone who's never been in the woods would support.
At least one of the recent wildfires in eastern WA burned more wildly because the Roadless Rule meant firefighters couldn't reach it.
The USDA is right to end this stupid bureaucratic rule.

Well, I think about my sweet little Lulu who was spayed and when she got to be 14 or 15 years old, she had bladder incontinence. I now understand being a postmenopausal woman once I put the hormones back no longer did I have issues with my bladder too... it breaks my heart. I had a drug compounded for her, and I don't believe it was a hormone it didn't work either
but curious if I would've given her a little estrogen if it would have helped.
