The best way to learn something new is to believe you do not know it all. Debate is to share knowledge and be open to independently reviewing your opposition's claims.
I am proud to be an independent since 1992. My viewpoints are my own. Our accumulated deficits (nearing $38 trillion) are a result of bipartisan failure to govern.
This run up in debt began in 2003. That's 22 years now of not learning anything or proposing anything to reduce it. No matter which party you support this is unsustainable, the GAO has stated this since I began to really understand the problem we face in 2010 when the debt stood at $13.6 trillion.
Our first mission is to understand the word "Unsustainable"
Our second mission is to regulate spending within a reasonable means, and deficit spending only in time of war and to avoid wars. I'd say hold spending to 96% of revenue collected, not projected. Run a very lean government.
Our third mission is to make certain we maximize tax revenue without placing undue hardships on tax payers. I'd recommend a consumption tax, with a flexible rate on key economic indicators. Give W-2 taxpayers 100% of their pay, and tax only what they consume. The underground economy would finally begin to pay something in.
As always I'm open for debate, from politicians or just my fellow Americans. I can be swayed in my education by logically crafted viewpoints.
We are nearing our 250 anniversary if the Declaration of Independence. What are your grievances and solutions for the next 250 years?
If there is only one bit of advice I can leave for the younger generations, it is to never give up on independent thinking.
I use the SWOT analysis in all my major decisions. This was taught to me while working for Texas Instruments. Engineers are logical thinkers, and they realize all decisions have weaknesses and threats.
AI seems cool, but even the early developers are issuing statements on the W and T of the analysis. Seek out that information.
@MalindaDetweil1 Currently on book three of a nine book series about the fall of worlds, all tragedies. This story revolves around evil creating a mother dragon, but its offspring unlike any dragon story I've ever read.
You are correct. I am more interested in what AI has done and not what they promise it can do.
Recall the promises of the internet and the subsequent bubble.
I truly think this a narcissistic race to be called a trillionaire.
Everyone should go to YouTube and listen to people like Geoffrey Hinton dubbed the godfather of AI who won the Nobel Prize in physics. He left Google to be free to talk about the risks of AI.
If you've ever done any programming you know that it deals in logic. If this, then that, else this, endif.
Humans are just not capable of such simplicity. The big word of 2026 is now "consciousness." Some will think this is waking up after an all night cocktail binge.
