Repost from Gulf Times:
Kit Devahastin, the Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. of the Royal Thai Embassy in Doha, has said that Thailand warmly welcomes the agreement reached between the US and Iran.
Almost 30 years since the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Treaty was adopted, it is deeply troubling that landmines continue to kill and injure people, often decades after placement. States must recommit to ending the production, use and transfer of these weapons.

Thailand Reaffirms Ban on Nuclear Weapons Testing, Promotes Peaceful Uses
Thailand has reaffirmed its opposition to nuclear weapons testing and the use of nuclear technology as a weapon during the 66th Session of the CTBTO Preparatory Commission in Vienna.
The Office of Atoms for Peace said Thailand supports the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO)'s global monitoring and verification system and continues to contribute data through its radionuclide monitoring station in Nakhon Pathom and seismic station in Chiang Mai.
Thailand said data from the CTBTO network are used for earthquake monitoring, tsunami warnings, disaster risk reduction, environmental surveillance, and scientific research. The country also said it is closely monitoring regional and global radiological risks and uses international and domestic monitoring networks to assess potential impacts from radioactive releases.
Thailand reiterated its support for nuclear non-proliferation and the peaceful use of nuclear technology in medicine, energy, and industry.

The wake-up call ASEAN needed.
The closure of the Strait of Hormuz amid the US-Iran war triggered an energy crisis that became a major highlight of the ASEAN Summit in Cebu. President Marcos called on ASEAN leaders to strengthen coordination and advance renewable energy to protect the region's economy, while Foreign Minister Sugiono stressed the need for a joint initiative to build ASEAN's resilience in the energy and food sectors.
Tracing the origin of Thai tea
.
Thai tea was not always the sweet orange drink we know today. It began as a hot brew in Ayutthaya, before condensed milk, ice and changing tastes transformed it into one of Thailands most iconic drinks.

NEW: The United States and Iran continue to hold fundamentally different positions on most major issues within the US-Iran “agreement.” Iran has not publicly committed to removing its highly enriched uranium (HEU) stockpiles or to halting uranium enrichment in Iran, reinforcing broader uncertainty around the negotiations. US President Donald Trump said on May 25 that any deal with Iran must be “great and meaningful,” and explicitly rejected “anything like the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).”
Other Key Takeaways:
Iran has continued to claim that it and Oman control the Strait of Hormuz as territorial waters. Iranian officials are attempting to reframe transit tolls as “protection fees” to give Iran’s protection racket the veneer of legality. The Strait of Hormuz is an international waterway under international law. Iran is claiming that the strait is territorial waters and under the administration of “coastal” states. It is notable in this context that Iran does not define the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as a coastal state, even though the UAE borders the strait.
US President Donald Trump urged on May 25 the leaders of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Pakistan, Egypt, Turkey, and Jordan to join the Abraham Accords.
Hezbollah drone operators have likely developed a rudimentary tactical approach to coordinate multiple small first-person view (FPV) drone strikes in a short period of time. The “swarm” attacks appear to employ three or more drones operating in a staggered but near-simultaneous manner. This system is extremely rudimentary and would either require a single commander to coordinate the attack or a preset, prioritized list of strikes that cannot be dynamically changed. Hezbollah will likely attempt to overcome the shortcomings of this tactical approach.

My visit to Thailand reaffirmed the breadth of #UNESCO’s nearly eight-decade partnership with the country, and the shared ambition that continues to guide it.
In Bangkok, a UNESCO Creative City of Design and UNESCO Learning City, I was deeply honoured to be received by HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador since 2005. Her Royal Highness’s dedication to education and cultural diversity continues to inspire UNESCO’s work.
I was grateful to meet Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and reaffirm UNESCO’s commitment to working hand in hand with Thailand across our mandate, from inclusive education to ethical artificial intelligence, culture, science and the environment.
I also had the pleasure of meeting the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Education, Natural Resources and Environment, and Culture, to advance our shared priorities and turn them into concrete action and meaningful results.
At Wat Pho, I saw culture in its most human form: memory, education and knowledge serving people every day. Its inscriptions, listed on UNESCO’s Memory of the World Register, and its role in transmitting Nuad Thai, traditional Thai massage, inscribed as Intangible Cultural Heritage, remind us that knowledge must remain alive and accessible to all.
What inspired me most was meeting young people from across Asia and the Pacific at Chulalongkorn University. Their ideas were courageous, grounded and shaped by real experience. They are not waiting for transformation. They are already driving it.
From the renewal of UNESCO’s partnership with the Equitable Education Fund to exchanges with the UN family, UNESCO colleagues and private sector leaders, this visit was about one goal: delivering lasting impact for people and communities. #ForThePeople
