Wealth is transient. What previous generations considered as wealth are no longer important to future generations. I had a deep conversation with a relative recently. His parents are wealthy by Nigerian standards but he is not at all interested in what they have as he has seen better out there in the world.

He said that others are thinking about investing in NVIDIA and other semiconductor companies, his parents are thinking of Nigerian assets in an economy with constant devaluation due to inflationary pressures.

One of my in-laws explained it clearly to us at a family meeting a couple of years ago. Your African assets have to constantly earn above the local inflation rate or else you are digging a hole and not building generational wealth.

It made me realize that most of the families we consider as those with generational wealth were either fortunate to be in the right geography and with little conflict, or have derisked everything with a global presence.

My late grandmother did her bit with trading and opening a restaurant. Her son tried to do better with land acquisitions, and I am doing something totally different from both in tech. I don't know what my children will do in future, but the best thing my grandmother did with her wealth was to provide her children with education. Knowledge is the true generational wealth. It helps to open up opportunities.

Our daughter woke up crying in the middle of the night, so my husband brought her into bed with us.

In the dark, she scooted over until she could feel me, then she snuggled close and fell back to sleep.

When I woke up in the morning, I tried to move quietly in the dark to not wake her up. I thought I could sneak into the living room to do my Bible study while everyone else was still sleeping.

But as I walked to the coffee pot, I heard her scared voice calling for me and crying.

She must have sensed I was gone and thought I had left her.

She didn’t realize I was just a few feet away. All she knew was that she couldn’t feel me anymore.

And that made me think about something our preacher always says.

Even when we don’t feel like God is still with us, He truly is.

In those moments when we think He has left us and we feel all alone, He is still right there with us.

He hears our cries and says, “Sweet child, I’m right here. I haven’t left you.”

So, this morning, if you feel like God has left you because you can’t feel Him, I promise you He hasn’t gone anywhere.

For years, retired teacher Du Yingrong and his wife, retired doctor Lu Suying, lived a life that many people couldn't understand.

The childless couple from Shanghai shared simple meals that cost just 17 to 18 yuan, about USD 2.50, often stretching a single takeaway meal between the two of them. They lived in a small apartment, repaired old belongings instead of replacing them, and avoided spending money on themselves whenever they could.

People assumed they were simply being frugal.

In 2018, after learning about children born with congenital heart disease whose families could not afford lifesaving surgery, they quietly donated 500,000 yuan. Not long afterward, they made an even bigger decision, donating another 4.5 million yuan, bringing their total contribution to 5 million yuan, roughly USD 735,000.

When a hospital social worker visited their modest home and suggested they keep some money for themselves, Du replied,

"Neither of us has much time left. We receive pensions and still have some savings. We don't need much money."

Their donation eventually helped fund heart surgeries for 455 children, giving hundreds of families a chance they never thought they would have.

Du Yingrong passed away in 2018 at the age of 81. Lu Suying continued living the same humble life until her death in 2025 at 92. With no children of their own, they entrusted a charitable foundation to carry out their final wishes.

Happy birthday to the man who fought another lecturer who wanted sex over my hard work as a student. A lecturer boldly failed me because I refused a visit. He was known for it. I was in 200 level then. I saw the disappointment on my professor's face because this was someone he helped.

When the information got to my professor, he took immediate action.

On the agreed date for the hearing, I got into the room with my previous results on the table. All I heard was, "It cannot be Blessing. Dr, something is wrong. She wrote all of these in the past. She is diligent. It can't be my daughter. Dismiss this."

Although it was too late for the portal to change the verdict online, I am glad my innocence was proven. All my scripts magically reappeared. And the next generation after me has not had to deal with such an element. I saw my script. I did not fail, as written by the man who lacks self-discipline.

I have not forgotten how you stood up for me, Sir. You made sure whoever did this paid heavily for it. It is 5 years after graduation but everything is still new in my heart.

Professor Modo gave me access to his library. He encouraged me to be steadfast. He has not forgotten me. He spoke to me early this year and told me to further my studies since I am well now.

Throughout the time I was sick, he was always talking to me. He would say, "When you are ready, go to this institution and tell XYZ that you are from me."

Thank you, my amiable Professor Innocent Modo. You stood up for so many. You shielded many with school fees and feeding money. I witnessed it as a student then. May God keep shielding you, Sir.

A $400 million rare earth and critical metals processing plant is under construction in Nasarawa State. The facility will process 18,000 tonnes annually, making it the largest rare earth processing investments in Africa.

The facility is designed to process critical minerals such as tantalum, tungsten, and tin, which are essential components in defense systems, electric vehicles etc.

Now this will be significant interest to the U.S, which has been seeking strategic partnerships with Nigeria to secure critical rare earth elements and lithium to bolster its defense systems and reduce heavy reliance on Chinese supply chains. Rare earth minerals are the lifeblood of the U.S. defense industrial base, essential for manufacturing precision-guided weapons, fighter jets, radar arrays, and warships.

Nigeria holds vast, untapped reserves of rare earth elements, tantalite, coltan, and lithium primarily located in regions like Nasarawa, Kaduna, Kogi, and Ekiti states.
