@Alrenous@TheAziH@divmgl Really! The path of getting better at games is literally by playing them in reverse chronological order lol. Bonus: the games usually get better too :)
@Spiders_STG@wltr3565 1: Note they say addicting and not addictive.
2: Addictive means it's not fun and you want to stop but can't. Check: if it were fun (or otherwise rewarding) they would say it's fun.
Unironically mass-market games should ship with a "beat game" button. Why bother with the pretense?
Right on the title screen. "Tutorial. New Game. Load Game. Beat Game. Options."
Hiroo Isono (1945–2013) was a Japanese illustrator known for his dreamlike landscapes and lush scenes of fantastical nature. His work blends elements of fantasy, science fiction, and ecology, portraying worlds where vegetation and wildlife dominate over human presence.
His highly detailed and vibrant style also left a mark on the video game world: he created promotional illustrations for Secret of Mana, the classic RPG by Square released in 1993. His images helped define the game’s magical and nature-driven atmosphere, becoming an iconic part of its visual identity. 🌿🎨
@PinClock@Zelkiiro@TheDavidVinc Dragon warrior 4, Necrosaro. They expanded the game engine specifically for this fight. Seven forms.
It's not long because the fight is long, it's long because he'll kill you due to being a terrifying death machine the way a final boss should be.
Games should be too long, because if they're not too long they're too short. Gamers very rarely finish the games they play and that's better than having it the other way around.
@megalarper Master of Magic. Turns out being wildly unbalanced can be a game's best feature. Most replayable game of all time. Plus dark elf = GOAT.
Also, tolerates it when I play it wrong. I decide what my goals are, not the game engine.
There's a big problem with Master of Magic's dark elves. I see races in other fantasy games, compare them to MoM's dark elves, and become disappointed.
On the plus side, you can make a dark elf character skin in terraria. It doesn't arbitrarily stop you.
@Anonymous7885@Niflheimm155983@jackcrawford__ Every game wants a metroid prime scan system, but with less immediately telling you how to kill stuff or break the thing.
Or maybe easy mode is precisely that the scan system does that. Meaning you can turn it off.
Which means I can't figure out how games should encourage players to use the journal like that. It was fantastic.
Games should at least let you set your own metroid prime scan points.
When I first played stonekeep I exploited the fact it let you keep a journal. I went well beyond the actual game in that journal.
Unfortunately I don't have the save nor do I remember what I put in that journal.
You’re probably thinking of @jackcrawford__ since I’m not really as opposed to the ship log, although I also don’t think it’s as good as taking your own notes. Iirc there’s an alternate mode that doesn’t use the conspiracy theory web style that may be even less likely to be problematic
It’s a goated game though, glad you’re playing it
Imagine a world where quest 64 gets a remake instead of resident evil.
Serpent isle had roughly the back 1/3 lopped off. What if we got a remake that finished all the lore.
Of course this is a very different world.
@AlteaOf48598@Starscream4501@HMKilla A bad audience is built into the DNA of the game. The basics, the first thing you're supposed to learn, is teamsniping. Being a pig. It mechanically punishes good will and big-picture thinking.
