“Women still earn less than men for the same work” is an established fact? If true, why do employers hire any men? They want to overpay for “the same work” and give up what could have been profits? The rest of the NYT decries corporate greed. Now we’re told that corporations are altruistic and pay way more for the same work than they need to.
@ISuperGeek@PattyMurray If any entity other than the government was running it, arrests would have started within weeks of the implementation.
It should have been phased out starting in the Bush administration in 2005. And that was too late.
WA State Ballot Pamphlet shenanigans
I-654 Vote Yes Repeal the Income Tax
1) pro and con statements for each initiative are submitted to the SOS for inclusion in the voter pamphlets.
2) When we saw the public union backed con statement opposing our repeal of the unconstitutional income tax, A) it negatively references me as a private citizen directly and B) it is riddled with outright falsehoods
3) so we asked the SOS about the process and possible corrections
4) SOS told Sen. Chris Gildon “ We do not verify arguments for truth or fact, nor is any new material accepted.”
Good to know -
I-638 Protect Girls Sports
5) In the support statement for I-638 to protect girls sports, We sited the AAP’s (American Association of Pediatrics) own website regarding standard practice for pediatric exams.
6) The Hate in WA state and the AAP were not happy with this factual quote from their own website being included in the voter pamphlet
7) So they complained to the SOS
8) So of course the SOS told them the same thing he told us they don’t verify and no new material right???? WRONGGGGG
9) It appears that when the no campaign complains the SOS can accept changes in fact they gave us instructions on how we could modify our statement to satisfy the claims of the Hate in WA state and AAP concerns:
“Your committee may submit a revised sentence no later than 1 p.m. tomorrow, August 26. You may revise that sentence only, remove the sentence altogether, or remove the organization’s name in a way that makes sense….”
10) Our statement is factual and we have no intention of changing it, but i find the process disconcerting and yet consistent with the one party rule where state government actions always mysteriously seem to favor the one party rule’s stance….

@Mariean_w We've been caring for foster children for many years. We recently discovered https://t.co/qnvv5mju6g Allowing our current little buddy sleep in whatever position that works best without us worrying.
@SenWarren We should all be worried about politicians that constantly want to interfere in the free exchange of buyers and sellers transacting on discretionary items like ice cream and tea.
In the course of just a few months, Democratic lawmakers and operatives in Washington state have:
-Taken away my press pass and forced us to wage a costly legal battle.
-Audited my money manager for the first time in his 11 years in business, seeking information about me.
-Filed two bogus Public Disclosure Commission complaints against organizations I'm aligned with.
-Convinced friendly media outlets to use those complaints to smear me.
-Launched a relentless PR campaign to hurt my credibilty in the court of public opinion.
What are they so scared of?
@PhilipGreenspun@GadSaad I had a ride from Connecticut to JFK a couple years back with a man who had immigrated from central America (can't recall where) and had raised his family here. He was proud to be an American, and it was one of the most inspiring rides I ever had. #welcometoamerica
Villains are rare. That's exactly the problem. 😇
Writing in 1943, Isabel Paterson noticed that the worst damage rarely comes from cruelty. It comes from people convinced they're serving a noble end, acting deliberately, for years, with power behind them. 📖
@LearnLiberty CS Lewis too.
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies.
@LearnLiberty The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
