Mile 5 - mulberries for energy. I ate some and was happy to find them at the halfway point today. Around 9.9 the rain began and cooled me off. It was a hot day.
Today I ran 8 in the sun it was great. I also remembered the 2004 Portland Half where I ran hard and didn’t feel right the day afterwards. There is a warm feeling I have Maine. The runs along the rugged coast, the cool summer weather and a lobster roll to help recover. NE hazies
Today several people told me how the heat tired them.
It’s a good time to begin heat acclimation.
Limited AC in your car.
Limit AC at home a few hrs
Increase each week and the body will adjust.
Hot summer days will be better
Yesterday a group of about 10 people politely moved over for me while running across the bridge. Of course I would have moved first but they beat me to it. At that point I decided to pick up the pace. They do something for me. I have a big thank you and they cheered me on.
Today was a good day. Some drizzle, temps enough to feel cold with a t-shirt, wind and just enough to keep the people indoors and the road clear for my run. Feels good to be the only one. Quiet. Rhythm.
This weekend was a firm reminder of how good running against strong wind makes you stronger. The sand off the beach was hitting so hard it felt like horseflies biting.
Thursday night runs have been a favorite of mine for over 30 yrs beginning with my time in Guam. 5-6 miles where I cruise and then pickup the pace with a good rhythm. I’ve hit PRs on these runs. Relaxed with good form but locked in. Begin the last day of the work week ready to go
@StronGingerMama The only useful and perhaps different advice I have is to know your reasons for finishing and mentally prepare for setbacks, if one were to occur. What will carry you through if you consider quitting. It can happen. Better to address it now.
4M with beach running today, something I have been doing since I was a teenager. Running on the sand is so beneficial. The strength you gain helps prevent injuries and keep your core tight.
Today we have much snow in NJ. I warm up before shoveling snow. It’s not the gym and most people can do it but the body will go from a warm to cold temperature immediately and begin exercise.
Today was cold and wet but around mile 1.5 I warmed up and had that warm, comfortable feeling. It’s better than having a bowl of hot chowder waiting in the kitchen after shoveling snow.
@JakePearson303 Comprehensive lab work, see what needs improvement and make the changes. Marketing a supplement without knowing a person’s lab work first is a red flag.
