Alright, let’s break down why $METIS is the absolute sleeper in the Layer 2 race and how it could melt faces this cycle.
Current Market Caps (aka Where the Big Boys Are)
$METIS: $348M
Optimism ( $OP): $2.2B
Arbitrum ( $ARB): $2B
Polygon ( $MATIC): $7.2B
If $METIS Runs With the Pack
Match Optimism ($2.2B)
$56.61 × (2,200M / 348M) = $358.10 🚀
That’s a 6.3x from here.
Match Arbitrum ($2B)
$56.61 × (2,000M / 348M) = $325.26
You’re looking at a 5.7x.
Match Polygon ($7.2B)
$56.61 × (7,200M / 348M) = $1,170.34
Hold onto your JPEGs because that’s a 20.7x moonshot.
Why $METIS Has Stupid Upside
No Unlocks Left:
Unlike $ARB and $OP, $METIS doesn’t have unlocks looming like a sword over your bags.
Crazy Undervalued:
This is a fully functioning Layer 2 sitting at crumbs compared to the rest.
Narrative Brewing:
Smaller L2s + meme supercycle = absolute degeneracy. $METIS is primed to rip.
TL;DR:
$METIS is the underdog that could go from $56 to $1,170+ if it catches up to its peers. A Layer 2 with no token unlock FUD and a clean market cap?
That’s comfy 10x territory minimum.
Don’t cry later when you’re buying the top. Get in now, or get left behind. 🚀

History has been made.🌿
#Metis Mainnet has been succesfully upgraded, welcoming the first ever Decentralized Sequencer on an #Ethereum Layer 2.
In the next few days, details will be shared for Community Testing Contributors to start claiming.
The future of Layer 2s has never been brighter.

The Metis Decentralized Sequencer is now live on Metis Sepolia Testnet
We're so close to decentralizing our sequencer on #Metis mainnet, that it HURTS!
Now, dApps are able to deploy on Testnet, getting us closer to kicking off Community Testing.
Due to an unexpected surge in demand derived from the launch of #MetisEDF, many new dApps have showed interest in taking part in Community Testing. Therefore, we've decided to postpone the launch of Community Testing to a new date, which will be voted on by the Metis community on January 10th.
During this and next week, we'll reveal all participating dApps and allow the community to interact with them via official Metis Spaces. All of these protocols are or will be very soon deployed on #Metis mainnet. The upcoming week will give you a chance to fully understand and master the protocol, Community Testing will give you a chance to be true to your inner degen on each and every one of these innovative protocols, and the #MetisEDF will incentivize them all on mainnet afterwards. It truly is a great time to be on Metis.
Additionally, @MetisGovernance is expanding.
A proposal has been submitted to governance to further decentralize Metis: https://t.co/bkuui1xfRe
Under the new structure, #Metis won't be able to centrally decide which projects fulfill the requirements to go through CEG, but instead it'll be in the hands of the community.
Any projects that want to apply for funding and/or collaborations, will have to go through CEG. Therefore, the community will have a high degree of decision power over:
• Funding
• Network enhancements
• Collaborations
Funding
All projects interested in applying for #MetisEDF funding regarding ecosystem grants, builder mining rewards, or other initiatives, will have to be approved by the community via CEG.
Network Enhancements
Network enhancements, like upgrades and even the decentralized sequencer itself, will be voted on by the Metis governance. When we say Metis is community-owned, we're not joking: we're fully embracing decentralization.
Collaborations
All protocols that want to be highlighted by Metis or want to launch any sort of campaign alongside Metis will have to go through CEG, giving the Metis Community the ability to give these protocols a seal of approval for potential campaigns alongside Metis.
Community Ownership
This a big step towards community ownership, as we're further decentralizing decision making on Metis, and giving community members the decision power they deserve.
The #MetisEDF, currently worth $400,000,000, will be managed, to a large extent, by the Metis governance, since only protocols that successfully go through Community Ecosystem Governance (CEG) to become a Community Verified Project (CVP) will be able to apply for funding and/or collaborations.
As we implement this new structure, the sequencer decentralization will have to be voted on by the community, as well as the launch of Community Testing. This, combined with the surge in interest for Community Testing dApp slots, have made us move back launch of Community Testing until the new date to be voted on next Wednesday.
The governance vote for Community Testing going live will take place on Wednesday, January 10th.
Community Testing will be bigger than expected, and new dates will depend on the community approval of its implementation.
The short-term goals remain the same: decentralization, community ownership, and revenue sharing. They're all coming VERY soon. 🌿
Decentralizing the #Metis sequencer means:
✅24/7 Liveness by eliminating single-points-of-failure
🔒Enhanced security by strengthening censorship resistance
🏦Revenue sharing through Sequencer Mining
This is why decentralized Layer 2s will become the new meta.
$METIS is one of the biggest opportunities on the market imo. Lots of things lining up for a parabolic run, obviously seen some nice price action so far but it's a $300m cap. $MATIC ran from sub $100m to $15b in 5 months in 2021. If you believe 2024 is going to be good, I think it's a given this trades higher.
TVL - Skyrocketing faster than any other L2 currently. Nothing amazing but still on a steady uptrend. It has $695m TVL which is the same as @base
$ADA has a $400m TVL at a $23b market cap (literally 80x higher)
Chain usage - usage on the chain has 10x'd in the last week including active wallets & native DEX volume but still has insane room to grow since being pretty low compared to other chains.
Ecosystem fund - they are about to introduce the largest ecosystem fund of potentially all time, currently valued at nearly $400m which will be slow rolled out over 10 years helping development, liquidity & activity in the ecosystem. Safe to say this is going to skyrocket activity & TVL and it starts next month.
This will be used across Sequencer mining which includes liquid staking derivs so regular holders can stake their $METIS and earn yield whilst remaining liquid to interact with DeFi protocols. Also includes funding lots of high level projects to build on $METIS from the following sectors:
- Decentralized Finance (DeFi)
- Real World Assets (RWAs)
- SocialFi
- Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs)
- Cross-Chain Technology
- Smart Contract Development
- Blockchain Security
- Decentralized Identity and Privacy Solutions
- Blockchain Gaming and Metaverse Applications
- Infrastructure
- Prediction Markets
$INJ had an $150m ecosystem fund, it's marketcap at the time this was introduced (Jan 23) was $150m, it since run to $3.3b.
$AVAX had a $180m ecosystem fund (announced 18th August), it's marketcap at the time it was introduced was $4b, it run to $30b before the market topped.
Fees > currently has the lowest fees amongst rollups whilst massively lower in valuation
Tech > First ever decentralised sequencer about to go live & they are implementing Zero-Knowledge proofs later in the year
Circulating supply > Tiny circulating supply compared to other chains & will be further reduced once the $metis incubated LSD platform (similar to $LDO) comes out as whales will be locked up in staking (regular holders can remain liquid whilst staking)
Chart > Broke out of a 1+yr consolidation phase with a giga candle that isn't offering much of a pullback. Hit $140m daily volume on Christmas day & had several 7 fig market buys. Still down over 75% from ATH.
Accessibility > Already on @okx@coinbase@kucoincom but has recently garnered attention from @binance who tweeted this https://t.co/c6p6QEsn7Z (same time as wallets with a lot of $METIS have been growing rapidly, think it's safe to speculate on a potential listing)
& one of my favourite things is the lack of current projects, there's currently only about 10 worthwhile projects to buy so liquidity isn't spread all over the place & saturated. All of the top DeFi protocols are below $15m and there's a tonne of big projects being launched in the coming months (ability to get in on the ground floor for people active on the chain seeking opportunities)
Bonuses: @VitalikButerin mum is on the team and not on any other teams, nicest explorer other than etherscan (https://t.co/4qIFXuIpsU), generally fast & nice to use, most foundations keep revenue to themselves, metis will be the first rollup to implement staking that shares sequencer revenue with stakers, adding to staying fully decentralised.
Onepager: @MetisDAO
🔹Metis optimizes Ethereum app and dapp development with increased efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
🔸Currently utilizes Optimistic Rollups, however, Hybrid rollups by @ProjectZKM will be integrated soon.
🔹 Additionally, the Proof-of-Stake Sequencer Pool will be in testnet soon - introducing a solution for the long-standing centralized sequencer issue of rollups.
Let me correct this for you, @blknoiz06
Q4 Top Performing Altcoins
Metis: 650%
Celestia: 433%
Solana: 420%
Injective: 397%
