@Elise25229332 I agree with you, I had no idea that immigrants had to go through so much! They have to prove so many thigns, it could take years for them to go to another part of the world and in my opinion that sucks because it’s completely out of their control.

I learned that the immigration process is very tedious and hard to comply to. You can’t just get in line and come to America legally, you have to go through a huge process that proves you’re not taking a valuable job from a US citizen. This could take 1-5 years. #socl214

@MaddyS_socl214 I think that it is crazy that there’s a 70% chance of IF a black man dropped out, he’d go to prison. I think this is crazy especially in the world we live in now. A lot has changed but I believe we still have a long way to go! #socl214

I didn’t know that the number one rate of incarceration rates is in the USA. The difference is quite massive too, it’s not a close difference the closest one under the USA is England with 148, the USA has 698. #socl214

@JordyIWNL I agree with you, Jordy. It was very easy for the whites to be privileged with funds due to property tax and population. In all honesty this is cruel and unfair. #socl214

One thing I learned in this video is that black children are more segregated now then they have been in any time since the 1970’s, and schools are funded by property taxes so that’s why predominately white schools get more money/funds than predominantly black schools #socl214

@zuullema You made a very good point in this response and summed this topic up very well. I think it’s messed up that they categorize Asians as the same no matter where they’re from because everyone is unique in their own ways. No two people are the same and for them to think this is wrong

Asian actors struggle to get lead roles in movies and shows simply for being Asian because they fear the Asians would scare people away so they took Asian American actors and made them look white which is really messed up. I learned a lot while watching this video. #socl214

One thing that stood out to me was that having privilege makes people feel guilty which is why they get angry and defensive. I have noticed people get defensive when it comes to privilege and I never thought about why, so this stood out to me. #socl214

@AlexxusWatson I agree with you. I believe that a lot of people get frustrated when having to “take care” of a young African American womans hair but in reality they did nothing to deserve that type of hatred or attitude. They all have beautiful hair and should be respected with that. #socl214

One thing I never truly looked at that stood out to me in this video is that one girl said that her grandma got anxiety while brushing her hair, which made her think what she did wrong and also what happened in her life to make her think her granddaughters hair was bad. #socl214

#socl214. This short video has a lot of good points about black representation. It used to be pretty bad but I believe is definitely better, as you could see in the video, the Black Panther was a bit hit and shows a perfect example of how this is getting better.

@MinglunWei I agree with you, yes the SAT’s are racist. I also pointed out that the SAT is based off of your family income and how much money you make. I truly thought it was to help decide what school you are eligible to getting into rather than family income. Good point, Thanks for sharing

One thing I learned is that the SAT doesn’t mean anything when it comes to predicting college it actually shows how much family income/money you have based on your scores, due to the ability to study or not. Richer people can prepare more which leads to a higher score. #socl214
